This role is a member of the North America Mars Global Services – Finance (Payroll) team. The Team Lead – Payroll Tax is the subject matter expert in the area of Federal Wage and Tax laws, in addition to tax laws for each state, locality, and other payroll-related areas including the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico. This is to ensure that the payroll system is configured to align with the tax laws and regulations and to identify new legislation that may require policy and configuration changes in Payroll. They will be knowledgeable in the field of payroll, payroll tax laws, relocation tax laws, international visas, international assignment, occupational privilege tax, and other payroll-related areas. The Team Lead - Payroll Tax will also be knowledgeable in the field of payroll tax gross-ups and tax agency audits.

This role will serve as the key user for MyPay (Ultipro) as it relates to payroll taxes.

This role is also responsible for supporting Payroll projects and initiatives on as needed basis.

What are we looking for?

Bachelor’s degree Accounting / Finance or related field or equivalent experience

3 to 5 years of payroll and payroll tax experience

In-depth knowledge of payroll environment, payroll tax and legal requirements

Ability to influence without authority

Strong analytical and problem solving skills required

Demonstrated ability to work well under pressure, handle multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines is essential

Strong verbal and written communication skills

What will be your key responsibilities?

Leads payroll tax initiatives related to integrations of existing or newly acquired units

Lead resolution of payroll tax agency inquiries & assessments (e.g., federal, state, local, other)

Responsible for overseeing UKG Tax filing performance.

Support projects that arise each year within Mars, Inc., originating externally or internally to the Payroll team. This includes projects like integrations relating to unit or company acquisitions, company mergers, system upgrades, policy changes, functionality enhancements and process changes

Lead the annual reconciliations effort for employer’s quarterly federal tax returns (form 941s) and employer’s annual federal unemployment (FUTA) tax return (form 940). This reconciles quarterly 941s to W-2s by Federal Identification Number both tax wages and taxes withheld and taxable wages by state from the quarterly filings to the taxable wages on the 940.

Provide Tier 2 support for associate and P&O payroll tax inquiries received through the payroll service center

The base pay range for this position at commencement of employment is between the range listed below, however, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including but not limited to job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position will include variable pay, medical and dental benefits, participation in 401k plan, and paid time off benefits. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an applicant receives an offer of employment.

The pay range shown is applicable to all locations listed within the job posting:USD 85,843.00 - USD 118,036.00
