Pet Nutrition (PN) is the most vibrant category in the FMCG sector. As we work to transform this exciting category, a new program named Shepherd, has been mobilized by the Mars Pet Nutrition leadership team. Shepherd is focused on the implementation of SAP S/4Hana for Pet Nutrition. Much more than a simple “Lift and Shift,” this program will undertake a major process simplification and harmonization scope as we digitally transform our business.

Shepherd is focused primarily on eight mega process areas: Finance, Source to Pay (procurement and vendor mgmt.), Plan to Fulfill (manufacturing and distribution), Lead to Cash (order processing and payment), Governance, Engage to Consume (marketing), Idea to Market (R&D), and Recruit to Retire (HR). This transformation requires thought leadership, quality decision making, deep technical know-how, and an ability to navigate complex business challenges while applying a holistic and multi-disciplinary approach to each of these mega processes. As part of Shepherd, a new role has been created to manage all cutover and deployment activities related to the SAP S/4Hana landscape.

Context and Scope

Project and Programme are often marked by a seamless transition from the old system/landscape to the new one. As part of Shepherd SAP S/4Hana Digital Transformation program, we therefore require someone with high level expertise and experience in delivery successful cutover & deployment within SAP.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the Pet Nutrition area and will have to work very closely with all other counterparts in Mars (i.e. Royal Canin, Corporate, Snacking and Food) to merge all key timelines and activities related to the Cutover.

What are we looking for?

  • Have an IT background with proven experience in ERP/SAP Development, Implementation or Transformation projects in a leading or coordinating role

  • Have profound knowledge of cutover, change and release management processes and standards

  • Be very well organised with experience in effectively setting deadlines, delegating and assigning responsibilities followed by monitoring, summarising, aligning and communicating the cutover plans status across various stakeholder groups ensuring clear ownership is established for all activities

  • Have the ability and experience in defining comprehensive cutover plans that outline the sequence of tasks, timelines, dependencies, and resource requirements, securing technical integrations and business continuity. You need to have attention to detail and resilience in negotiating through the cross stream requirements and alignment to build an executable and successful cutover plan

  • Be actively alert and able to do risk management of cutover activities including escalation process to ensure cutovers remains on track.

  • Have team player attitude and hunger to develop new professional skills combined with proactive, development-minded, and goal-focused attitude to work

  • Excellent documentation, visualisation and presentation skills

  • Have experience working with System Integrator and/or Business Integrator, 3rd parties

What will be your key responsibilities?

  • Live and exemplify the Five Principles of Mars, Inc. within self and team.

  • Experience in Cutover and Deployment Lead role in transformation projects, with emphasis on large scale SAP projects

  • Excellent understanding of S/4HANA product roadmap and knowledge of relevant delivery methods for SAP (waterfall, hybrid agile, agile)

  • Excellent relationship-building, networking and influencing skills with ability to function successfully in a team environment

  • Take accountability & ownership for technical frameworks, processes and best practices to build extensible, performant and maintainable solutions

  • Manage cross-team and stakeholder relationships to drive collaboration and meet shared goals
