Job Description

Maersk’s Ocean business is at a structural inflection point. The next wave of performance improvement will not come from incremental optimisation, but from fundamentally redesigning how decisions are made and executed across our global network. To deliver sustained reductions in cost-to-serve, improve execution stability, and strengthen commercial performance, Maersk is launching a series of AI Big Bets within Ocean. These initiatives aim to embed intelligence directly into operational workflows – improving planning quality, execution stability, and productivity while delivering measurable EBIT impact at scale. These solutions will support thousands of operational decisions across Maersk’s global Ocean network, shaping planning, execution, and terminal coordination across regions and markets. We are now seeking a Senior Product Manager – AI to lead one of these Ocean AI Big Bet initiatives. This role carries senior-level accountability and high visibility across the organisation. It requires deep operational understanding, strong product leadership, and the ability to translate complex execution challenges into scalable AI-enabled capabilities.

AI is the enabler. Value creation across the Ocean business is the objective.

About the role:

As a Senior Product Manager – Ocean AI, you will own the vision, roadmap, and value delivery for one of the Ocean AI Big Bet initiatives. You will work at the intersection of operations, technology, and decision science to translate real operational challenges into AI-enabled product capabilities. Your focus will be on improving operational decision-making across Ocean planning and execution by introducing AI-supported capabilities that strengthen reliability, planning quality, and cost efficiency.

You will lead the initiative from discovery and design through to implementation, operational adoption, and measurable value realisation.

This role operates across planning, execution, and terminal interfaces and requires close collaboration with Engineering, Decision Science, Operations, and other AI Big Bet initiatives to ensure solutions integrate effectively across the Ocean operating model.

What we offer:

  • Enterprise-Level Impact: Lead a high-visibility AI Big Bet initiative delivering measurable improvements in cost, productivity, and operational stability.
  • End-to-End Product Ownership: Own product vision, scope, roadmap, and value delivery from concept through operational deployment.
  • Executive Engagement: Work directly with senior leadership and AI Big Bet program leadership to shape priorities and monitor impact.
  • AI at Enterprise Scale: Build and deploy AI capabilities that support operational decision-making across Ocean planning and execution workflows.
  • Global Scope: Influence operational performance across regions, functions, and markets.
  • Innovation in Complex Systems: Design solutions for one of the world’s most complex logistics networks, combining operational insight, data, and AI.
  • High-Performance, Inclusive Environment: Operate in a fast-paced organisation that values diverse perspectives, rigorous thinking, and shared accountability

Your responsibilities:

  • Define the Product Vision: Shape the strategic vision for your Ocean AI Big Bet initiative, translating operational challenges into AI-enabled product opportunities.
  • Lead AI-Enabled Product Development: Lead AI-enabled product development with a human-in-the-loop approach, translating operational execution scenarios into AI use cases, product requirements, and deployable capabilities in partnership with engineering and decision science teams.
  • Own the Product Roadmap: Define and sequence value-driven product roadmaps aligned with Ocean priorities and AI Big Bet program milestones.
  • Integrate Across the Ocean Operating Model: Ensure solutions connect planning, execution, and terminal interfaces and align with related initiatives such as INDEX and other AI Big Bet workstreams.
  • Drive Operational Adoption: Work closely with operations teams to embed AI capabilities into daily decision-making workflows.
  • Track Value Realisation: Define and track success metrics across cost, reliability, productivity, and planning quality to ensure sustained operational impact.

What you bring:

  • Operational Domain Expertise: Experience in Ocean, logistics, or similarly complex operational environments with a strong understanding of execution workflows and cost-to-serve drivers.
  • Product Leadership: Demonstrated experience owning product vision, scope, and roadmaps for complex operational or platform products.
  • AI and Data Familiarity: Experience working with data science or analytics teams to deploy predictive models, optimisation, or simulation capabilities into operational decision workflows.
  • Systems Thinking and Structured Problem Solving: Ability to translate complex operational situations into clear product requirements and scalable solutions.
  • Cross-Functional Influence: Ability to lead expert teams across operations, engineering, and decision science without direct authority.
  • Execution and Change Delivery: Strong bias for execution with a track record of delivering measurable operational improvements and driving adoption of new ways of working.

Ready to transform Ocean? Apply now! If you bring the judgement, resilience and execution drive to lead meaningful structural change in a complex global environment, we want to hear from you. This role places you at the centre of a high-impact Ocean Big Bet – embedding intelligence into Ocean execution and delivering sustained, measurable operational outcomes at scale.
