Job Description

Who are we?

Ki is the biggest global insurance tech company you’ve never heard of, unless you’ve been looking to insure a satellite, wind farm or music festival recently.

We launched in 2021 on the back of a fundraise that delivered $500m of investment, making us one the largest fintech start-ups that year. Our investors were excited about the fact we were revolutionising the way a 333 year-old industry was working. We have rapidly scaled: In our first year we wrote over $400m of premium and in 2022 we doubled that to $834m. We have developed Ki over the course of the past 2 years and created a platform that helps insurance brokers cover risks in a fast and frictionless way. We’re continuing to lead the charge on the digitisation of this market and that’s where you come in - we need more curious minds to work with us to realise this goal and create more opportunities. If helping us transform a multi-billion global industry sounds exciting to you, read on.

Purpose of the Role

You will join the Risk team at Ki working to maximise the value of exposure management, through embedding the latest views of risk, enabling technologies to support algorithmic underwriting activity and managing risk exposures in line with the companies’ agreed strategies and external requirements. You will collaborate with the business to ensure a consistent and comprehensive view of risk in optimising underwriting and reinsurance placement strategies.

As a senior manager, you will take on a leadership role in the Risk function, working closely with senior business stakeholders to ensure Ki’s Exposure Management Framework is delivering maximum value. Your team will be responsible for ensuring Ki identifies, measures, manages and reports catastrophe risks and material exposures for natural and non-natural risks. Working with the algorithmic underwriting teams, you will embed the latest view of risk aggregations in the underwriting platform, enabling the algorithm to optimally deploy available aggregate capacity in a dynamic fashion across both Ki’s own syndicate and those of its partners.

By leveraging the analytics and data abilities of the wider Ki team and supported by a dedicated Exposure Management Research & Development resource, your team will drive increasing sophistication in the models and processes used to understand and manage risk exposures embracing the latest understanding, data sources and analytical tools.

You will have previously worked within the Lloyds/London Market, and have demonstrable experience in reporting requirements related to Exposure Management, particularly for businesses operating at Lloyds (e.g. LCM, RDS, RDL). You will have excellent knowledge of risk aggregation tools and discipline and a firm grasp of the commercial drivers affecting risk decisions in the insurance sector. If you have a track record of effective team management and operating at a senior level across an insurance organisation we’d like to hear from you.

Our culture

Inclusion & Diversity is at the heart of our business at Ki. We recognise that diversity in age, race, gender, ethnicity, sexual orientation, physical ability, thought and social background bring richness to our working environment. No matter who you are, where you’re from, how you think, or who you love, we believe you should be you.

You’ll get a highly competitive remuneration and benefits package. This is kept under constant review to make sure it stays relevant. We understand the power of saying thank you and take time to acknowledge and reward extraordinary effort by teams or individuals.

If this sounds like a role and a culture that appeals to you, let us know.
