As the nation’s leading pub, cider and beer company and the name behind a host of brilliant brands, we’re looking for equally brilliant people to help us on our journey to building a better future.
We’re looking for someone that is as ready to evolve for the future as we are. If you’re ready to brew a new career, apply for our Finance Analyst role today!
About the role
We have an excellent opportunity for a qualified (we’d accept either part or newly qualified) accountant to join our Reporting and Accounting team in our head office in Edinburgh in a newly created role. The position involves helping to add value by way of review, challenge, analysis and financial control while working closely with the Pubs reporting team.
Working within Reporting and Accounting you'll have exposure to and be responsible for elements of period-end close activities, helping on associated internal and external audits, assisting with performance of financial reporting controls and other associated ad hoc tasks. Following the recent implementation of our new ERP system, the role will be responsible for designing and establishing new best practice processes and documentation to ensure the integrity, cleanliness and robustness of financial data to deliver a successful transition whilst embedding these into core business procedures.
You'll be a key person and coordination point for the accounting processes performed by the Pubs finance team based in Edinburgh, and you'll also business partner with other internal teams such as Process Control and Improvement, Internal Audit and Digital and Technology. Extensive collaboration with the external auditors will also be required. This is an exciting period of change across the finance function as it supports Heineken’s ongoing Global Digital Backbone project, and you'll be joining a hard-working team in a fast-paced environment that continually challenges the status quo.
Who we’re looking for?
An accountant, possibly a new graduate or part-qualified accountant with experience in both internal and external Financial Reporting. If you have experience of:
- period end close processes and balance sheet reconciliation processes
- IFRS or UK GAAP/FRS 101 accounting standards
- Liaising with external auditors
And…
- are an effective communicator
- enjoy working as part of a team
- can develop strong working relationships and collaborate with a wide range of stakeholders
- have advanced Excel skills (VLOOKUPs, Pivot Tables, large data manipulation).
- have excellent analytical skills with an enquiring mindset
- are motivated by continuous process and control improvement and efficiency.
Then this could be the role for you!
Other skills that would be beneficial although not required:
- experience working with a major ERP system (i.e. SAP, Oracle, Business Central etc) or with other sub ledger system
- involvement in a prior system migration, implementation, or major upgrade
- this would be advantageous and familiarity with data governance and data integrity principles are also beneficial
- experience within FMCG or a large organisation would be preferable.
Our Benefits
As part of the team, along with your salary, you’ll also receive;
- Discretionary Annual bonus
- Company funded Private Medical Healthcare
- Double matched pension (up to 10%)
- 35 days holiday
- A quarterly allowance towards purchasing our delicious ciders and beers! (low and no alcohol options available)
- Comprehensive Opportunities to develop.
You’ll also get the opportunity to get involved with one of our colleague networks where groups of colleagues from all over the business work together to ensure we’re always working towards being a diverse and inclusive company.

To enable this, we ask colleagues to be in the office on Tuesdays and Thursdays and one other day of the colleague’s choice.
