You’ll be highly visible in the business and nurturing relationships with many stakeholders, including our Management Accountant, CEO, Business Analyst, Sales Director, COO, and various external partners.
You’ll quickly get month end streamlined and automated so that you can focus on strategic initiatives. You’ll coach budget holders on how they can support our growth plans and help them set operational budgets. You’ll contribute to and check in with our 5 year plan to keep us on track, always looking out for insights we can leverage to grow faster. You’ll be generous with your time, developing others as you grow and become an established source of knowledge and wisdom.
Typical responsibilities:
- Business partnering with operational and commercial teams
- Implement improvements to financial processes across the business
- Build robust financial controls & ensure strong financial governance
- Act as the first point of contact for HMRC and other regulatory agencies
- Working closely with our Business Analyst to ensure that useful reporting, analysis, and procedures exist across the business
- Review draft monthly management accounts prepared by the Management Accountant and present the results to the leadership team
- Work closely with the budget holders to prepare annual budget and review the quarterly forecast prepared by the Management Accountant
- Management of day to day finance function
- Managing the daily, weekly cash position, including short term and longer term cash forecasting
- Weekly reporting on KPIs
- Doing regular balance sheet audits/checks to ensure accuracy and completeness
- Liaise with external Accountants to ensure the annual financial statements are filed correctly on time
- Review and manage VAT for accuracy before submission
- Work with the Management Accountant to gather payroll information and run monthly payroll
- Liaise and challenge key decision makers across the business to maintain profitability and efficiency
- Raise invoices for grants success fee, credit control and debt collection
- Ad hoc training of non-finance team members on relevant financial matters
- Training manager for apprentices
Requirements
- CIMA/ACCA/ACA qualified accountant with at least 3 years PQE
- Highly organised, approachable, detail oriented, self-starter with a “can do” attitude
- Advanced proficiency in spreadsheets (Google and Microsoft) and familiar with Google suite
- Strong analytical skills
- Ability to translate complex financial information for various stakeholders
- Ability to quickly adapt to new processes and systems
Desirable
- As this is an urgent hire, we would prioritise applicants with shorter notice periods
- Experience working in a similar role for at least 2 year in a dynamic startup or scale up environment
- A track record of improving processes and successfully implementing change
- Experience of coaching and developing others
- Understanding of performance frameworks e.g. OKRs, KPIs, etc
- Comfortable with remote work, but open to office meetings from time to time

For this role, the salary will be £70,000.00 - £75,000.00, depending on experience. In addition to your salary, we are offering a place where you can be yourself, develop your skills and fulfil your potential. Our Shoreditch office will be open for your use outside of national and regional lockdowns.
