GrantTree really prides themselves on the flexibility they offer (as they should!) The senior management lead by example here and really trust the team to manage their own workload, work location and schedule. Personal circumstances are respected and accommodated for. It is a wonderful place to work!

Half-day Fridays is a awesome perk we have here at GrantTree! Having that half day on the Friday arvo is perfect for getting stuck into some life admin before everyone else knocks off for the week, or great for getting a head start on a weekend trip away! Not sure how i could go back to working full Fridays ever again...
GrantTree's culture is fantastic. Everyone is trusted to do their work, everyone's opinion is respected, and everyone has the flexibility to work in a way that allows them to be highly productive while tending to the various demands and obstacles life throws at us. Above all, people are treated like...well...people. Not like units of productivity or machines unneeding of kindness and recuperation. Lots of companies claim to be 'human' and 'inclusive'. Few are. GrantTree, most certainly, is.
There isn't a requirement to be in the office, however there is a London office which has bookable desks should you wish to come in. It's such a lovely space and great location. Work environment is supportive, collaborative and fun. I'm really happy here.

Flexible working at GrantTree

Here are GrantTree, we self-manage so you won't find any traditional managers here. Instead, we use a system of distributed decision-making which gives people autonomy to manage their own work. We are all leaders here and you'll be too.
We are consultants serving UK clients, so we try to be available to them during standard UK office hours. But if your clients are taken care of, there's no reason why you can't adjust your day around life events. Aside from managing the expectations of your team, you don't need anyone's approval.
As a company with a remote-first approach, our team can be found working from our lovely co-working space in Shoreditch, or remotely from all over the world. Our staff can work from anywhere as long as their work gets done efficiently and to a high standard. With that said, we are a social bunch and like to get together regularly to celebrate wins, renew coordination, increase collaboration or just to get some face time at the pub.

By being self-managing and operating a system of distributed authority, we have a diverse range of voices involved in all our decisions. In addition, our transparency policy extends to salaries, because we believe that knowing what everyone earns is a way to ensure that pay remains fair (or at least that it can be widely discussed if we get it wrong).
It's not always easy to avoid blind spots or biases as a small team, and despite already being quite diverse, we'll never stop striving to improve.
We purposely write job ads with gender neutral or feminine coded language to ensure we get women applicants who can be harder to attract in the tech space.

What do we think of GrantTree?
GrantTree were brilliant throughout their accreditation. Full transparency is always a good sign to us at Flexa and GrantTree were very open to our questions throughout the process. As a fast growing tech scale-up, it can be hard to foster a fully flexible working environment, but Nicky and her team are doing a fantastic job. As such, this is clearly reflected in their Flexa benchmarking scores. It's quite rare to have both scores be so close to one another, and this is positive and a huge win. This not only shows that the company is far more flexible than the average market employer, but that both employer and employee are in complete understanding of the flexible working environment benefits and guidelines.

Hi! I’m Nicky :)
I joined GrantTree in 2015 as a Financial Consultant in our R&D Tax Credits team. I’ve held a few other roles since then and today I’m our CEO. Our open culture has allowed me to develop in ways I never thought possible in any other company, both personally and professionally.
We are an open collective of specialists with a passion for building relationships and supporting the people we work with: our clients, our partners and each other. And I’m on a mission to make GrantTree an even more amazing place to work!
