Job Description
N.B. This role is open to remote candidates within the UK only.
About Flash Pack:
When was the last time you made a new friend? The quality of your relationships is the single most important factor for your mental health. Travel has a unique ability to fast-forward the friendship-making process, which is why we’re on a mission to create one million meaningful friendships using the power of travel and technology as a platform for human connection.
We create curated social adventures for solo travellers in their 30s, 40s and 50s. Since launching in 2014, we’ve seen impressive year-on-year growth and become the category leader in a thriving, rapidly expanding market with the majority of our business now in the US.
We’re well-funded, we’ve shaken up an outdated industry, and we see ourselves as a friendship company far more than a travel company. Our culture is down-to-earth, hard-working and compassionate, built by exceptional people who care deeply about doing work we’re proud of.

The Role:
We’re looking for a hands-on Senior Product Designer to help raise the bar on product quality, pace, and impact at Flash Pack. This role will be a true partner to our Head of Product: you’ll help to shape ideas, formalise the roadmap, and bring in the voice of the customer so that we build things in the right way.
This role sits at the heart of our Product team and works closely with Product and Engineering to shape, ship, and iterate on customer-facing experiences. You’ll take ownership of initiatives end to end, operate confidently in ambiguous problem spaces, and use data and customer insight to inform your decisions. You’ll help new customers understand and be inspired by our community of Flash Packers, and support that community through excellent and repeatable user-experiences.
This is an IC role and a rare opportunity to be the only Product Designer in the organisation. You’ll love this role if you’re someone who enjoys being hands-on with delivery, working autonomously and can clearly articulate business outcomes through the work you’re doing.
In line with our salary framework, the salary for this role is £65,000 to £75,000 depending on experience. This is a remote-flexible role - in practice this means that we meet in person as a team every 6-8 weeks in London, and the rest of the time you can work remote in the country the role is hired in (UK).
Where you will spend your time:
Owning end-to-end product design for key initiatives from discovery through to delivery
Partnering closely with Product, Engineering, Data, and Marketing to shape solutions
Using quantitative data and qualitative insight to inform design decisions
Rapidly iterating in ambiguous, fast-moving environments
Challenging product direction constructively and proposing better alternatives
Designing and shipping work that directly impacts conversion, confidence, and engagement
Taking initiative to identify problems worth solving, not just responding to briefs
What we’d love to see from you:
You’ll be a collaborative team member and know that design doesn’t happen in a bubble.
You will have strong hands-on product design experience in a startup or scale-up environment
You’ll have a user-centred approach, using data and testing your work with users to improve and iterate on it.
B2C or B2B2C experience shipping consumer-facing digital products
You’ll have strong visual design skills, including a strong knowledge of typography, colour theory, layout, hierarchy among others.
You are commercially astute and can confidently link and articulate business outcomes to design ideas
You are confident using the right data to support design decisions, and know what data isn’t needed
You have a strong bias toward action and momentum over perfection; you are happy to fail and learn, and happy operating in ambiguity
You are highly experienced working closely with Product and Engineering partners
You enjoy being hands-on with projects and design scopes, you naturally own outcomes
You are interested in AI developments in the Product world; you see it as a great tool for development and have hands-on experience of accelerated impact through its use.
We’re after the right person and if you don’t quite hit all the criteria, we’d still encourage you to apply. We’d love to chat and see if you could be a great fit for Flash Pack.
Interview Process 🛠️:
Our interviews take place on Google Meet and usually consist of the following stages:
Introductory chat with our talent team to see if there is a match (30-45 mins)
A competency-based interview with the hiring manager to hear more about your background and experience and to give you a deep dive into the role (~60 mins)
A case study and presentation with the hiring manager and a key stakeholder to see how you’d solve a problem (60 mins)
Meet with one of our founders for any final questions you or we have (~60 mins)
Diversity and Inclusion
We’re led by a BAME, female CEO and building a diverse and inclusive team is incredibly important to us which is why we are building diversity and inclusion into the company hiring, performance and progression framework.
We see our diversity as a key competitive advantage which is why we are committed to hiring top talent regardless of race, religion, colour, national origin, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, age or status as an individual with a disability.
