Role Purpose

The purpose of this role is to support the development of Bord Gáis Energy’s Sustainability Plan, managing all environmental and social impacts in line with Centrica’s overarching People & Planet Plan. As part of this, the Sustainability PMO will support in assessment of environmental, social and governance (ESG) impacts, risks and opportunities (IRO) across Bord Gáis Energy and work across the business to develop a strategy to maximise opportunities, whilst minimising risks and impacts and deliver compliant and industry leading disclosures.

About the Role

  • Work with Centrica ESG team and Bord Gais Energy team to manage and deliver key disclosure deliverables including but not limited to Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) and EU Taxonomy
  • Support the development and deployment of local implementation plans including value chain assessments, materiality assessments, stakeholder engagement, target setting and effective communication to all affected departments
  • Work with Bord Gáis Energy management and colleagues to ensure communication, understanding and accountability of Sustainability/ESG strategy and related programmes
  • Draft disclosures compliant with all mandatory and select voluntary ESG disclosure requirements
  • Support Centrica ESG team to coordinate its implementation of corporate-led ESG initiatives and benchmarks such as TCFD, CDP, WDI etc
  • Support Centrica ESG teams and local functions with data collection, analysis, and assurance necessary for ESG reporting to align with relevant reporting frameworks and internal needs,
  • Manage wider Bord Gáis Energy ESG assurance and governance tracking programme in line with legal and group requirements
  • Support Bord Gáis Energy Sustainability programme disclosures and wider mandated statements such as the Gender Pay Statement

About You

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience within Sustainability/ESG
  • Significant professional experience in an ESG/Sustainability role
  • Proven expertise in ESG reporting frameworks (SDG’s, TCFD, CDP etc) and benchmarks
  • Deep understanding of ESG agenda and up to date knowledge of trends and best practice in reporting and stakeholder engagement
  • Experience of driving business change
  • Ability to engage and influence internal and external stakeholders at all levels
  • Strong data management and analytical skills to ensure data integrity and high quality reporting
  • Ability to communicate complex matters to non-experts
  • Strong capacity to be future focused in identifying ESG risks and opportunities and their implications to Bord Gáis Energy
  • Proven commercial acumen
  • Strong planning, project management and organisational skills
