Job Description

We are Centrica! We’re so much more than an energy company. We’re a family of brands revolutionising a cleaner, greener future. Working here is #MoreThanACareer - we’re powered by purpose. Together we can make an impact that will truly change tomorrow. Whether you’re developing cutting-edge green tech, helping customers on the front line or simplifying operations behind the scenes.

Your work here isn’t just a job – it’s a mission. We all play a vital role in energising a greener, fairer future.

We have a fantastic new opportunity for a Senior ESG Reporting Manager to join our Finance team. Reporting to the Group Head of Technical Accounting, you will help lead the delivery of the Group’s ESG reporting requirements, focussing on the extensive new CSRD requirements. The role will develop robust policies and processes in order to capture relevant metrics and ensure that disclosures are capable of being assured by the Group’s external auditors.

It is pivotal in linking with the Environmental, Social and Governance area leads, as well as our external consultants (PWC), to bring together the Group’s CSRD reporting. The role will also help deliver the EU taxonomy reporting obligations and assist with wider ESG reporting requirements.

Location: Windsor/Hybrid

We have tailored our well-being & benefits package around our employees as follows;

  • Competitive salary and bonus potential
  • Employee Energy Allowance at 15% of the government price cap
  • Pension scheme
  • Company Funded Healthcare Plan
  • 25 days holiday allowance, plus public holidays, and the option to buy up to 5 additional days
  • Excellent range of flexible benefits, including technology vouchers, electric car lease scheme & travel insurance

What will you do?

  • Liaising with the Environment, Social and Governance (ESG) areas and relevant external support providers, to enable Centrica to meet its CSRD and EU taxonomy reporting obligations.
  • Being the central, internal Finance single point of contact for all business units and functional resources in relation to the reporting aspects of CSRD and ESG.
  • Sitting on the CSRD project management team, working closely with the Programme Director and providing a link into Finance.
  • Working directly with the ESG teams, business units and functions to ensure resources are in place and maintained to meet CSRD needs and supported with expert advice, templates, systems and direction.
  • Considering the appropriate mechanism for relevant data/metric capture and concluding on system requirements (e.g. Workiva)
  • Helping co-ordinate internal resources and activities in line with the agreed project plan.
  • Directing activities to fill the identified gaps in the company’s policies, actions, and processes to meet regulatory requirements.
  • Working with the ESG teams and BUs/Functions to ensure appropriate controls are in place around the processes for capturing the required metrics.
  • Working with the Group Finance A&R team to establish appropriate GL codes for EU taxonomy capture and to educate BUs and Functions on their usage.
  • Managing third party external assurance relationship to prepare Centrica for successful third-party limited assurance.

Who are we looking for?

  • Knowledge of CSRD and ESG reporting requirements, including ESRSs, ISSB standards and the EU Taxonomy.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a track record of delivering robust processes.
  • Excellent project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously.
  • Proficiency in finance and accounting software (including SAP) and advanced Excel skills.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels.
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Accountancy qualification (ACA, ACCA or similar)
  • Significant experience in finance or accounting roles
