We have an exciting opportunity for a Head of Digital DevOps to join our Technology team and lead the development and management of our Digital solutions for customers and colleagues. You will be a customer focussed technology leader with deep experience of Digital technologies and DevOps methodologies. You will work closely with key stakeholders across the enterprise, including the Customer Experience, Digital Marketing, and Digital Customer Operations teams.
The Head of Digital DevOps reports to the Technology Director in Ireland and is a key member of the local Technology leadership team.
About the Role
- Define and execute the Digital technology roadmap for Bord Gáis Energy to achieve its strategic ambitions, including a step change in customer experience, cost-to-serve, and go-to-market agility.
- Design and implement the target operating model for the Digital technology team to deliver and manage this strategic roadmap.
- Build and develop internal capabilities within this operating model to reduce dependencies on 3rd party resources.
- Foster a culture of digital innovation, driving improvements in future iterations of Digital services.
- Further develop and refine future digital services that transform and both customer facing platforms and seek to drive automation of processes throughout Bord Gáis Energy.
- Direct management of the Digital DevOps teams responsible for implementing the Digital change roadmap whilst ensuring continued platform stability and performance.
- Own management of 3rd party supplier relationships in respect of all digital services.
- Demonstrate leadership qualities by promoting a "digital first" approach for all new and existing processes and services by seeking out opportunities to automate processes and ensure end to end benefits are targeted and delivered.
- Ensure business benefits are identified, measured, and tracked in line with investment business cases.
- Ensure integration with wider Digital team within Centrica and promote a collaborative approach to delivering new and improved digital services.
- Establish appropriate governance processes with respect to the ongoing management of Digital services.
- Mentor and develop team members.
About You
You will need to have a robust combination of deep technical knowledge, strong leadership and strategic thinking skills, and substantial experience in managing digital initiatives and fostering innovation. Hands on experience of managing a cross functional team of both dedicated, and shared, resources.
Knowledge:
1. Digital Technologies:
- Deep understanding of current and emerging digital technologies and platforms.
- Familiarity with digital innovation trends and customer-facing platforms. AWS, Azure PAAS essential.
2. DevOps Methodologies:
- Comprehensive knowledge of DevOps practices, principles, and tools.
- Familiarity with Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) pipelines and automation tools.
3. Digital Services Development:
- Knowledge of designing, developing, and iterating digital services.
- Understanding of digital transformation and process automation.
4. Industry Knowledge:
- Familiarity with the energy sector and its unique digital requirements and challenges could be beneficial.

- Strong leadership and team management skills.
- Ability to promote a "digital first" approach and foster a culture of digital innovation.
2. Stakeholder Management:
- Ability to work closely with and manage expectations of key stakeholders across the enterprise.

- Strong communication skills to effectively convey technology strategies to non-technical stakeholders.
- Ability to promote collaboration within and across teams.

- Strong analytical skills to identify, measure, and track business benefits in line with investment business cases.

- Ability to mentor and develop team members, fostering skill development and growth.
Experience:
1. Digital Leadership:
- Proven experience in leading digital initiatives and managing digital solutions.
- Experience in fostering a culture of innovation and driving improvements in digital services.
2. Team Management:
- Experience in direct management of DevOps teams and ensuring platform stability and performance.
3. Vendor Management:
- Previous experience in managing 3rd party supplier relationships.
4. Digital Service Development:
- Experience in developing and refining digital services, both customer-facing and internal.
5. Strategic Planning:
- Demonstrable experience in defining and executing technology roadmaps and achieving strategic ambitions.
6. Process Automation:
- Hands-on experience in driving automation of processes throughout an organisation.
