An opportunity to play your part – Your role of Technology Director at British Gas Energy calls for a forward-thinking technical visionary who can inspire teams, drive excellence in delivery, and craft outstanding user experiences through technology. The day to day –

  • Lead strategic initiatives to enhance our services, leveraging technology to achieve exceptional outcomes for both customers and the business.
  • Ensure comprehensive compliance with industry regulations and internal standards, surpassing expectations in all operations.
  • Promote a collaborative culture, fostering strong relationships across teams to break down silos and amplify collective knowledge.
  • Lead with excellence in project delivery, demonstrating flawless execution and delivering transformative results.
  • Define and oversee data management practices, ensuring data quality, security, and providing insightful analytics to guide decision-making.
  • Ensure robust cybersecurity measures to safeguard operations, proactively identifying and mitigating risks.
  • Lead operational excellence efforts, optimizing systems, platforms, and partnerships for seamless integration and alignment with digital innovation.
  • Advocate for technological advancement, promoting the adoption of cutting-edge capabilities like AI to drive modernization and growth.
  • Mentor and develop future British Gas leaders, instilling a culture of continuous improvement and leadership.
  • In this pivotal role, you will be the cornerstone of BGB technology, driving change and progress within British Gas Energy. Your leadership will not only secure tactical victories but also unlock vast opportunities for the future.

About you

  • Ability to demonstrate expertise in operating, developing, and deploying technology solutions while managing a diverse portfolio of systems and requirements, preferably within the energy and retail sectors.
  • Possesses a strong technical background with a deep understanding of solutions architecture, platform capabilities, as well as administration, security, and compliance standards.
  • Extensive experience in cultivating and managing relationships with multiple suppliers and contractors to foster high-quality collaboration and achieve significant returns on investment.
  • Proven track record in leading technology delivery functions, particularly in dynamic, agile, and multi-tenant environments.
  • Proficient in innovating system designs and facilitating customer migration from legacy to modern systems.
  • Embraces a growth mindset, dedicated to continuous learning and development by embracing diverse perspectives.
  • Demonstrates exceptional ability to collaborate across virtual teams spanning multiple business units, effectively engaging with various stakeholders to drive results.
  • Exceptional capability to comprehend technical intricacies and communicate effectively with both technical experts and senior business leaders, translating complex concepts into simple explanations.
  • Proven innovator, advocates for new approaches to enhance customer experiences, and adept at sourcing best practices and innovative thinking from external sources.
