Job Description

Join us, be part of more.

We’re so much more than an energy company. We’re a family of brands revolutionising how we power the planet. We're energisers. One team of 21,000 colleagues that's energising a greener, fairer future by creating an energy system that doesn’t rely on fossil fuels, whilst living our powerful commitment to igniting positive change in our communities. Here, you can find more purpose, more passion, and more potential. That’s why working here is #MoreThanACareer. We do energy differently - we do it all. We make it, store it, move it, sell it, and mend it.

About your role:

An exciting 12-month FTC opportunity has arisen for a Finance Manager - Regulated Insurance within British Gas Services & Solutions, supporting the Home Protection portfolio and its regulated insurance entities, BGIL and BGSL.

This is a high-profile role offering regular exposure to senior stakeholders, including the S&S CFO, CRO and Insurance Board. You'll play a key role in financial planning, forecasting, Board reporting and performance management, while supporting PRA and FCA regulatory activities.

Working closely with teams across Finance, Risk, Underwriting, Pricing and Strategic Planning, you'll help deliver financial insight, governance and decision support that drives effective business and customer outcomes.

This is an excellent opportunity to develop specialist experience in regulated insurance finance while building your commercial finance, stakeholder management and strategic partnering skills.

This role offers a unique opportunity to gain exposure to regulated insurance finance, Board governance and financial regulation, making it an excellent development opportunity for candidates looking to broaden their experience beyond traditional commercial finance.

Responsibilities of the role:

  • Produce insightful financial reporting, analysis and Board papers to support business and Insurance Board decision-making.

  • Support forecasting, annual planning, performance reviews, and risk and opportunity assessments.

  • Analyse business performance against plan and forecast, identifying key drivers and recommending actions where required.

  • Translate commercial, operational and regulatory developments into clear financial insight and recommendations.

  • Support PRA and FCA reporting, governance processes and regulatory submissions.

  • Partner with stakeholders across Finance, Risk, Underwriting, Pricing and Strategic Planning to support business performance and decision-making.

  • Provide financial evaluation and challenge for business cases, investments and improvement initiatives.

  • Drive continuous improvement in reporting, controls and finance processes.

  • Support effective risk management by ensuring finance outputs contribute to strong customer and regulatory outcomes.

Here's what we’re looking for:

  • Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or CIMA).

  • Previous experience in FP&A, commercial finance, business partnering or financial reporting roles.

  • Strong analytical and financial modelling skills, with the ability to interpret complex information and draw meaningful conclusions.

  • Experience producing financial reporting, forecasts and business performance insights for senior stakeholders.

  • Strong commercial awareness and the ability to understand and communicate the financial impact of business decisions.

  • Excellent stakeholder management and influencing skills, with the confidence to engage with senior leaders.

  • Strong attention to detail and a robust approach to financial governance and control.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver high-quality outputs in a fast-paced environment.

  • Experience identifying opportunities to improve processes, reporting and ways of working.

  • A proactive and collaborative approach, with a focus on delivering business outcomes.
