Job Description

About Carwow

We’re Carwow. The car-changing experts for life-changing moments. Whether buying, selling, or (car) window shopping, we aim to give people total confidence in their choice.

We kicked off our journey as the ultimate matchmaker for car reviews, helping everyone pick their perfect ride. But we soon realised this wasn’t the destination - it was just the first leg. Why stop there when we could also help them get a great price?

So we decided we wanted to revolutionise selling cars, just like we did with buying them. That's when we introduced our game-changing 'sell my car' product.

Today, our dedicated team of over 350 experts across the UK, Germany, Spain and Portugal look after over 12 million active users (and an ‘excellent’ Trustpilot rating).

And we’ve got plenty left in the tank.

About the role

Are you an experienced Product Manager eager to contribute your expertise to a dynamic team dedicated to advancing products within our data function? We are actively seeking a candidate with prior experience in data product management.

As a Product Manager at carwow, your proactive decision making style will empower teams to work swiftly, even in the face of ambiguity, fostering clarity in decision making to maintain pace and drive continuous improvement.

In your first 6 months, take charge of the analytical data platform, employing a product centric approach to delivery. You will focus on maintaining the vision and roadmap, ensuring the creation of value from our data assets for both internal and external stakeholders. By closely collaborating with the data function and key stakeholders, spearhead the transformation of our data products into indispensable tools that significantly contribute to business value.

Collaboration with Analytics, Data Science and Data Engineering:

  • Own and manage the prioritisation of the product backlog within the Analytics and Data science function to meet agreed objectives
  • Coordinate requirement gathering, development processes, testing, training, and communication related to system maintenance and development.
  • Advocate for the data function, showcasing the value of our connected data and its potential benefits to the company, demonstrating how these solutions align with business goals and enhance decision-making.
  • Lead the implementation of our BI Strategy. Ensure that we are continuing to deliver improvements tactically while delivering on wider business strategy.
  • Develop and maintain a product roadmap outlining the evolution of data products, prioritising features based on business value, impact, and feasibility.
  • Collaborate closely with Data Engineers for seamless delivery.

Data Product Ownership and Enhancement:

  • Ensure overall quality of data products, adhering to data governance practices, and meeting the agreed expectations of our customers and clients.
  • Proactively investigate and understand issues within our systems and processes, proposing improvements.
  • Bridge the gap between data and business needs - analyse data usage, identify pain points and build products that address critical business challenges.
  • Champion Data Democratisation: Drive the successful adoption of data tools and technologies by stakeholders, from concept to implementation.
  • Challenge existing working methods, identifying opportunities for innovation and ensuring optimal ROI in our data platform developments.

Requirements

Note: We recognize that no candidate will perfectly match all listed requirements, so we encourage you to apply if you closely align with the brief.

  • Previous experience in a Data Product Management role.
  • Exceptional personal organisation skills, showcasing the ability to convert requirements into actionable plans and execute them effectively.
  • Experience applying agile product skills in a rapidly evolving tech environment.
  • Proven ability to build strong stakeholder relationships, analyse business problems, and articulate user stories and requirements to establish a clear definition of project completion.
  • Knowledge and understanding of Cloud Data Platforms, APIs, and Cloud Services, including expertise in Snowflake, DBT, and Tableau.
  • Highly analytical with technical acumen and a strong business sense, guiding ROI-based prioritisation.
  • Experience in data analytics, business intelligence, or software development.
  • Commercially minded, with the ability to apply analytical approaches to deliver practical solutions.
  • Keeping aware of emerging trends and technologies, guiding the team on leveraging these opportunities.
