Technical Product Manager

About You 

You will be a driven and organised Product Manager, passionate about delivering software that efficiently and concisely answers the questions posed by our customers. Working at the intersection of customers, developers, and company leadership, you will help ensure that product priorities are visible, well understood, and translated into focused development work. 

You are an excellent communicator who can listen carefully to customer problems, structure ambiguity, and translate discussions into requirements, specifications, acceptance criteria, and prioritised delivery plans. You will enjoy working closely with engineers, respecting the technical depth of their work while helping them maintain clarity of scope, priority, and purpose. 

You may already be working in product or project management, or software engineering and looking for a step into software delivery. You will be motivated by the opportunity to take greater ownership of a technical software product in a small, high-performance remote team, and excited to work on cutting-edge lap time simulation software used in FIA World Championships and other international racing series. 

Responsibilities 

This is a high-impact role where you will have support from the senior leadership team to improve how customer needs become reliable software releases. As a Technical Product Manager at Canopy, you will: 

• Own the flow of product information between front-line support, customers, leadership, and developers, ensuring that our short term feature requests and bug fixes are understood, prioritised, and delivered. 

• Liaise with clients to maintain requirements, user stories, acceptance criteria, and release notes for new features, and work with developers to track the rollout of these features. 

• Manage product work through source control tools and issue tracking, and coordinate with our development and QA teams to support continuous delivery of high quality software. 

• Over time, define and implement more formal processes for requesting, implementing, and delivering new features to the simulation software. 

Note that Canopy does not currently implement a named delivery methodology as we are a small and growing team. There is the opportunity to own a transition to a formal methodology with the support of leadership and the engineers if the benefits can be justified. 

Skills and Experience 

This is a role in which your knowledge and experience will be valuable from day one, but you will also have opportunities to gain exposure to motorsport, lap time simulation, physics-based modelling, and agentic software development. Applicants must have: 

• At least two years’ professional experience developing or managing technical products for B2B or B2C, or two years’ experience in software development. 

• An understanding of the software development lifecycle, including requirements gathering, development, QA, release management, and post-release feedback. 

• Confidence using source control, issue tracking, and product management tools (e.g. Jira, Linear, Github). 

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to manage customers, developers, and non-technical stakeholders. Two-way communication is essential – to and from the customer, and to and from the engineers. 

Beneficial skills and experience include: 

• Experience of product ownership (SAAS is an advantage) inside a small, remote, or highly autonomous company 

• Interest or experience in motorsport, simulations, or vehicle engineering – especially through series such as Formula Student 

• Experience in a customer facing role, especially managing customer requirements and feature requests 

• Prior ownership of product roadmaps, backlog management, CI/CD, or software deployment/release processes.
