Flexible working at Oak National Academy
At Oak we truly value flexibility. We offer a 4.5 day week or 9 day fortnight as standard. Colleagues are supported to work from home (equipment allowance provided) but can also choose to spend some of their time at a 'flexi-desk' at a location of their choosing.
We always try to be considerate of teammates who are juggling parenting duties, especially when it comes to school runs. We have a culture that ensures regular meetings do not happen at awkward times so that colleagues can manage drop-offs and pickups smoothly.
But don't just hear it from us, please look at some quotes from Oak colleagues...
"Oak has a great working culture that is flexible, promotes employee wellbeing and work life balance. They give their employees autonomy over their work and provide challenge in all the right places. They continually promote learning and development and provide opportunities to become experts in our work."
"We are encouraged to work flexibly and maintain a work-life balance. The senior team lead by example and we keep meetings to a minimum to allow for time in the day when work can be completed at a time/place that suits individuals best."
What Employees like about Oak National Academy

Working Environment
Working at Oak is incredibly flexible - everyone works remotely (unless they'd prefer to be in an office!) and we have a mature remote-first working setup (Slack, Google Workspace, Zoom, Notion, Miro etc.) that is well-used across the organisation. We meet up three times a year to set the agenda, chat with colleagues over food and drinks, learn some useful stuff, and think of new ways that we can work better together.
Oak is a public-sector organisation, so don't expect mega-bonuses or fancy perks, but the pay is transparent and genuinely competitive. Achieving my current salary in some private sector industries would be difficult without some hardcore negotiation, but Oak doesn't negotiate on salary so it's all out there in the open - take it or leave it!
As an unpaid carer, Oak is the best place I've ever worked. I never feel guilty for (politely) dropping out of a long meeting for a few minutes, or (if needed) borrowing some time from my working day that I can work back later in the week.

Culture
Really collaborative, really flexible team where you are encouraged to own your own role and decisions but work towards the collective goals of the team. A lovely place to work.

Purpose
Oak has a fantastic working environment, they have truly embraced the product operating model and aim to do good in the world.

People & Community
I'm fairly new to the organisation and I'm so glad I made the move. The culture has to be the most positive aspect for me - it's made clear right from the very start that everyone has a level of autonomy in their role and that message really comes down from the highest level. The people who work here are lovely - really dedicated, enthusiastic and believe in the organisation's mission.

Culture
I love working here because I believe in the origination's mission wholeheartedly and my work directly relates to it, it gives me flexibility in ways of working, my wellbeing is a key priority for the organisation and I am well-paid.

Working Environment
The flexibility in Oak is something I have not experienced in any other role. I truly feel like I can be an attentive parent and a full-time employee!

Culture
This is a great place to work if you are looking for somewhere that has carefully thought through how to maximise the benefits of remote working whilst at the same time supporting you to build meaningful connections with your colleagues and the wider organisation.

Purpose
Oak is a great place to work with an important mission. By working at Oak I have the opportunity to work towards helping to close the education gap.
