About the role

The Software Engineering Professional supports the execution of BTs software engineering strategy through cross-functional delivery, contributing to the development of technical solutions and platforms that enable innovation and engineering excellence.

What you’ll be doing

AI engineering and agent development

• Design and build AI-enabled services, copilots and agents using Microsoft Copilot Studio, Azure AI services, Azure OpenAI, prompt engineering and retrieval-augmented generation patterns.
• Implement grounded knowledge, tool calling, actions, connectors, orchestration, evaluation and human-in-the-loop controls for reliable enterprise use cases.
• Integrate AI capabilities with Microsoft 365, Power Platform, ServiceNow and enterprise APIs using secure, supportable patterns.

Power Platform solution engineering
• Build model-driven and canvas applications, Power Automate cloud flows, desktop automation and Power Pages solutions using reusable, component-based design.
• Design Dataverse data models, security roles, business rules, plug-ins or custom extensions where appropriate, and integrations using standard, premium and custom connectors.
• Apply pro-code engineering through C#, JavaScript or TypeScript, Python, Power Platform CLI, solution packaging and source control.

Application lifecycle, DevOps and operations
• Implement managed solutions, environment strategies, pipelines, automated testing, CI/CD and release controls across development, test and production.
• Monitor solution health, capacity, API consumption, flow failures, AI usage, token or credit consumption and operational risks; drive remediation and optimisation.

• Create runbooks, technical documentation, support models and reusable assets that enable reliable handover and ongoing service management.

Governance, security and collaboration
• Apply environment, connector, data-loss prevention, identity, access, privacy, audit and responsible AI controls in partnership with security and architecture teams.
• Contribute to platform standards, reference architectures, intake guardrails, design reviews and the controlled adoption of new Power Platform and AI capabilities.
• Partner with product owners, architects and business teams to shape requirements, estimate delivery, demonstrate outcomes and mentor makers and engineers.

Essential Skills / Experience

• Practical software engineering experience with Power Apps, Power Automate, Dataverse and Microsoft Copilot Studio, delivering solutions beyond proof-of-concept into supported production use.
• Hands-on experience with AI agents, large language models, prompt engineering, grounding or RAG, tool calling and evaluation of AI responses.
• Experience designing Dataverse security, connectors, APIs and integrations, with working knowledge of Microsoft Entra ID, OAuth and managed identities.
• Experience with application lifecycle management, managed solutions, environment variables, connection references, Git-based source control and CI/CD using Azure DevOps or GitHub.
• Proficiency in one or more of C#, JavaScript or TypeScript, Python, Power Fx, SQL and REST APIs.
• Understanding of Power Platform governance including environment strategy, DLP policies, tenant settings, capacity, licensing, auditing and supportability.
• Ability to translate business outcomes into secure technical designs and communicate clearly with engineering, architecture, security and non-technical stakeholders.

Desirable Skills / Experience

• Experience with Azure Functions, Logic Apps, API Management, Azure AI Search, Azure OpenAI or other Azure integration and AI services.
• Experience with Power Platform Centre of Excellence Starter Kit, Power Platform Admin Centre, Managed Environments and platform analytics.
• Knowledge of ServiceNow, Microsoft Graph, SharePoint, Teams or Dynamics 365 integration patterns.
• Microsoft certifications such as PL-400, PL-600, PL-500, AI-102 or AZ-204, or equivalent practical capability.
• Experience operating within a large enterprise AI factory, platform product or federated delivery model.
