Job Description

Closing Date: 8th July

Locations: Preferably London. Bristol or Birmingham considered. At least 3 days a week on site.

About the role

As an AI IC Manager, you will play a central role in shaping and coordinating internal communications for BT Group’s AI transformation. Sitting within Corporate Affairs and reporting into the Internal Communications Director for People and Culture, you will work closely with a developing cross-BT Group programme team to support communications that help unlock scale, accelerate adoption, and deliver measurable value from AI initiatives across the business.

This is an individual contributor role for someone who combines strong change and transformation communications expertise with a genuine interest in AI. You will develop and oversee a centralised communications approach, partnering with senior stakeholders and adapting activity for different audiences across BT Group as AI programmes evolve.

You will be part of the Corporate Affairs function, within the People and Culture internal communications area, while working day to day in close partnership with a wider AI-focused programme team that is being established across BT Group.

This role sits at the intersection of a central hub for AI transformation activity and the wider parts of the organisation that will help deliver and adopt AI initiatives. You will collaborate with colleagues across Corporate Affairs and with stakeholders from multiple business areas, helping connect programme activity with audiences across the Group.

What you’ll be doing

  • Develop and lead a group-wide internal communications plan to support AI transformation activity across BT Group.
  • Partner with the central AI programme team and wider stakeholders to translate programme priorities into clear, effective communications for employee audiences.
  • Deliver change communications and campaign activity that supports adoption of AI tools, initiatives, and ways of working.
  • Work across different business areas and Corporate Affairs teams to coordinate consistent messaging and communications delivery.
  • Build strong relationships with senior stakeholders, including programme leadership and other key contributors involved in AI activity.
  • Identify the right channels, approaches, and storytelling opportunities to engage colleagues across BT Group.
  • Use AI thoughtfully as part of communications planning and delivery, where appropriate.
  • Provide communications support for major rollout activity, including high-priority launches and adoption-focused initiatives.

Essential Skills / Experience

  • Strong internal communications experience in a large, complex organisation, with a track record of leading change or transformation communications.
  • Ability to turn complex technology, governance and process topics into clear, practical messages for colleagues and leaders.
  • Strong campaign skills, with experience leading communications for large-scale, strategically important transformation or adoption programmes that drive awareness, understanding and action.
  • Experience working with senior stakeholders in a large, complex organisation, with the credibility and judgement to advise and influence at senior leadership level.
  • Excellent writing and editing skills, with the ability to work at pace, manage ambiguity and switch between strategy and delivery.
  • A strong belief in the positive impact AI can have, with enthusiasm for using AI in everyday work and acting as a role model for how it can support high-quality communications.
  • Significant experience in internal communications, transformation communications or employee engagement, including support for behaviour change in a matrix organisation.

Desirable Skills / Experience

  • Experience supporting digital, technology or culture change programmes.
  • Curiosity about AI and digital change, with enough confidence to engage credibly with specialists and translate their work for non-specialist audiences.
  • Experience of AI-specific communications.
