This role supports the successful integration of new systems, products, services, and validation campaigns to assure the quality of the deliveries on behalf of EE and its customers, through technical and commercial launch.

What you’ll be doing

  • Responsible for all aspects of testing and integration from initial evaluation to Realisation into operational network. To set direction for the delivery across the full testing and integration life-cycle ensuring all key milestones are achieved in compliance with the Testing Framework.
  • Accountable for defining and communicating test approach to ensure risk mitigation strategy, agreeing and achieving key milestones and deliveries with external suppliers and internal stakeholders, articulating the working relationship at the start and securing agreement for the optimal balance of time, cost, and quality.
  • Developing and maintaining key relationships within Vendors, Design, Operations, Product owners, PMO, IT and Automation teams.

    Accountable across the range of Mobile technologies, leading detailed investigations, defining the test approach, highlighting any significant risks, and translating into business recommendations.
  • Responsible for the planning, engagement and management of all test resources throughout the lifecycle of the project.
  • Undertaking virtual management, coaching and developing the skills and competencies in others, through on the job support, delegation, coaching, timely formal and informal feedback, training and development.
  • Managing the delivery of Programmes/ projects to meet the business needs and match expectations for cost, quality, reliability and time to market in line with BT Portfolio.
  • Utilise a broad knowledge of testing approaches, practices and techniques in order to engage up front in value streams, projects, Programmes etc., to define the strategy for testing BT’s products and services.
  • Identify what testing tools and technologies can be implemented, aligning with those already used across the broader design and development functions and those being developed by our strategic technology partners.
  • Work with the Automation teams to identify opportunities to drive automation first and increase our automation footprint over successive deliveries.
  • Create test design patterns for re-use in future solution design settings, including the test requirements for regression testing and in life Quality Assurance.
  • Work with the Environment delivery and support teams to ensure Mobile NW and IT environments keep up with testing tools and delivery requirements.
  • Managing and negotiating any change required to deliver business needs and project benefits and take ownership for issues and escalations which arise as a result of testing and see them through to resolution.

Experience to be have

  • Degree or equivalent in Engineering, Electronics, Computing, Telecommunications.
  • Solid working knowledge & understanding of 3GPP mobile telecommunication networks (2G-5G) and likely a specialist in one or several areas.
  • Experience of authoring Test strategy, Test planning and Test specifications for mobile applications, Services and Platforms.
  • Experience of managing & delivering integration and acceptance Testing of telecommunications services and Platforms preferably experience with delivering Ericsson, Nokia and Oracle products.
  • Experience in test management to drive test execution, leading to defect troubleshooting, symptoms gathering and result evaluation.
  • Knowledge & Experience of working with Jira, Confluence & GitLab.
  • Ability to work under pressure and to assist peers in same situation whilst ensuring time, cost and quality requirements are maintained.
  • Hands-on experience with using monitoring tools like NetScout, Wireshark, Ericsson CNOM etc.


Technical Skills:

  • Solid know-how of one or more of the below Mobile technology areas (Platforms, e2e flows and Signaling protocols):
  • Evolved Packet Core (3GPP LTE) (MME, HSS, SGW, PGW, ePDG etc.)
  • GSM & UMTS Architectures (Circuit switched voice & messaging, MSC, SMSc, SGSN, GGSN, EIR, HLR etc)
  • Authentication, Policy Control & Charging Mechanisms (PCF, OCS, CDR, Radius, AAA)
  • Cloud Architectures & Network Function Virtualisation (EMS, VNF, NFVI)
  • 5GSA Architecture (AMF, SMF, UPF, SBA, HTTP2 API Services)
  • 5GSA Feature and functionality (NSSF, Network slice, NEF exposure)


Nice to have :

  • Basic experience in Test Automation, DevOps, CI CD and any Automation test framework tools like SEGRON, Spirent, Landslide.
  • Basic knowhow of Cloud Computing Technologies like Kubernetes, EMS, VNF, NFVI.
  • System engineering skills - Scripting and Automation.


Experience to be have

  • Must have experience of having worked with Mobile technologies.
  • Experience in managing & delivery of projects specifically for mobile devices technology areas with ability to define & execute an overall test strategy based on understanding of service design.
  • Must have experience of having tested Mobile core Platforms and services.
  • Must be able to work collaboratively with internal and external customers, stakeholders, partners to ensure alignment to technical and business requirements.
