Location: London, Birmingham

Salary: Competitive + Benefits

About the role

As a Project Management Professional, you’ll play a key role in planning and delivering complex optical circuit orders and wider network delivery projects for our business customers. You’ll take ownership of projects that may range from smaller, low‑complexity deliveries through to defined workstreams within larger programmes. Regardless of size, you’ll bring structure, clarity and momentum to ensure every project stays on track.

You’ll be working with cross‑functional experts from across BT to deliver bespoke Network, IT and Voice solutions. Typical delivery value (including services and equipment) may reach around £1 million, requiring strong coordination, risk management and clear communication throughout.

This is a customer‑facing role, and your approach will directly influence the overall customer experience. You’ll shape outcomes not just through successful delivery, but through the way you engage, collaborate and build trusted relationships.

As part of our professional community of Project and Programme Managers, you’ll be expected to apply established project management methods and tools, working in line with PMO governance and any contract‑specific requirements. You’ll contribute to a culture of continuous improvement, ensuring we deliver reliably, consistently and with our customers at the heart of everything we do.

What you’ll be doing

As a Project Management Professional, you’ll take responsibility for the end‑to‑end planning and delivery of complex optical circuits and wider network projects. You’ll be at the centre of coordinating activity across multiple BT teams, keeping delivery on track and ensuring our customers have a smooth, positive experience throughout.

You’ll be:

  • Owning and maintaining the delivery schedule for complex optical circuits and general project work, ensuring clarity, accuracy and alignment across all stakeholders.
  • Producing and contributing to key project management artefacts, including PIDs, RAID logs and other documentation required for successful delivery.
  • Leading and coordinating cross‑functional BT teams to achieve agreed outcomes within time, cost and quality expectations.
  • Engaging directly with customers, providing regular, clear updates through both informal communications and formal project checkpoints.
  • Supporting and adhering to agreed governance frameworks, including attending project reviews and providing routine schedule updates.
  • Identifying and managing scope changes, ensuring they are assessed, communicated and approved through appropriate governance channels.
  • Managing your projects within Planview, including accurate time logging and maintaining all relevant project information.
  • Proactively managing project risks and issues, escalating where needed in a timely and constructive way.
  • Capturing customer satisfaction feedback, using insights to drive continuous improvement.
  • Upholding the highest professional and ethical standards across all project interactions and decisions.
  • Ensuring all project deliverables meet the expected quality standards, ready for customer acceptance and operational readiness.

Essential skills/experience

  • Proven project management skills with experience delivering technical solutions to enterprise customers
  • Ability to direct and coordinate internal teams, customer contacts, and third‑party suppliers
  • Strong stakeholder management skills, including the confidence to handle difficult or challenging conversations
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, circuit deliveries, or workstreams simultaneously within defined timescales
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to explain technical information clearly
  • Ability to identify risks and develop effective mitigation strategies
  • Problem‑solving, negotiation, and commercial/financial acumen (intermediate practitioner level)

Desirable skills/experience

  • Experience managing Work Packages or small IT/Network‑related projects
  • Familiarity with BT Networks and Openreach processes, including escalation routes
  • Project Management qualification (e.g., Foundation level)
  • Experience working in large, complex stakeholder environments
  • Ability to understand technical details around high‑bandwidth optical circuit delivery and translate them into workable plans
