Job Description

About the role

As a Procurement Manager in the Engineering Field Services & Materials category, you’ll play a pivotal role in shaping and delivering strategic sourcing initiatives that drive value across BT Sourced. You’ll be at the forefront of category management, supplier strategy, and stakeholder engagement—ensuring procurement excellence and continuous improvement.


This is a high-impact role where you’ll work closely with internal teams and external suppliers to deliver cost savings, mitigate risks, and support business growth. You’ll have the autonomy to lead your own projects while collaborating with a dynamic team of procurement professionals.

What you’ll be doing

Strategic

  • Develop and execute category plans aligned with business and supplier strategies.
  • Apply best-in-class sourcing practices, including supplier selection, negotiation tactics, and total cost of ownership analysis.
  • Build strong relationships with internal stakeholders to champion procurement’s strategic value.

Operational

  • Identify and deliver cost-saving opportunities through commercial models, contract optimization, and operational efficiencies.
  • Lead sourcing activities in alignment with business needs and procurement processes.
  • Conduct risk assessments and manage supply chain resilience within the category.
  • Potential to have a direct report team.

Key Activities

  • Drive sourcing initiatives and tender execution in the Engineering Field Services & Materials category.
  • Negotiate contracts and implement procurement frameworks and procedures.
  • Present sourcing strategies and recommendations to senior leadership (CEO, CFO, CPO).
  • Manage supplier relationships and contractual risks.
  • Collaborate across procurement teams to enhance processes and deliver brilliant outcomes.
  • Partner with Customer Facing Units to support business objectives.

Essential skills/experience

  • Strong procurement knowledge and commercial acumen.
  • Self-starter with a strategic mindset and a proactive approach.
  • Excellent attention to detail, especially in pricing and contract negotiations.
  • Experience of understanding and negotiating contract terms.
  • Comfortable using digital tools and exploring new technologies.
  • Proven ability to influence stakeholders and communicate effectively at all levels.
  • Strong relationship-building and decision-making skills.
  • Experience managing complex sourcing scenarios and delivering against key metrics.
  • Collaborative mindset with a focus on continuous improvement.

Desirable skills/experience:

  • Experience in procuring engineering materials and equipment and/or construction services would be beneficial.
