Migrations CoE Professional

Why this job matters
This role supports Openreach in delivering better service, wider coverage, and faster speeds by ensuring high network availability and quality. It manages in‑life network performance, introduces new technologies, sustains legacy platforms, and supports broadband and Ethernet infrastructure across the UK. The role works with vendors to test, deliver, and install network components, manage change programmes, and drive productivity improvements to control costs and enable future investment.

What you’ll be doing
• Deliver network transformation and migration activities.
• Introduce new technologies and network components.
• Safeguard service performance through low‑impact interventions.
• Support service quality across business units and suppliers.
• Manage complex in‑life network changes for NGA programmes.
• Analyse network faults and drive improvement actions.
• Identify cost‑reduction and revenue‑generation opportunities.

Skills required
• Strong teamwork, communication, and quality focus.
• Knowledge of NGA components, vendors, and processes.
• Strong problem‑solving and delivery capability.
• Experience with FTTx, VDSL2, G.FAST, GPON, Radio, PPPoE.
• Understanding of optical networks (advantage).
• Hands‑on experience with Huawei, ECI, Nokia; Adtran desirable.
• Knowledge of network configuration, continuous integration, and migration procedures.
• Experience working with vendors.

Role responsibilities
• Deliver technical project and operational tasks independently.
• Prepare reports and recommendations.
• Provide analytical and innovative input to projects and negotiations.
• Support ICT transformation and change initiatives.
• Develop and manage policies and procedures.
• Work with internal and external suppliers and provide technical guidance.
• Participate in professional communities and maintain strong delivery standards.
• Contribute to strategy, transformation, and capacity management.

Key decisions
• Work autonomously within defined objectives.
• Support budget delivery and team performance.
• Maintain service quality, consistency, and adaptability.

Expected experience
• Experience in change management, service introduction, fault/data analysis, NOC operations, and migrations.
• Knowledge of NGA/Ethernet platforms and supporting systems.
• Ability to run diagnostics, prioritise workload, and manage incidents.
• Maintain process documentation and understand end‑to‑end network operations.
• Ability to interpret alarms and create technical plans.
• Hands‑on with Nokia, ADTRAN, ECI, and Huawei.
• Familiarity with OSS tools such as SRIMS, BerT, LLUMS, and NGWFMT.
