For the role of Specialist GPON Technology Engineer we are looking for candidates with a broad range of skills. The responsibilities include:

  • Engineering and lifecycle management of the network elements as well as the management of the suppliers in the GPON/FFTx Fixed Access domain.
  • Develop the fiber access connectivity for all market segments in GPON &FTTx design and process requirements and evaluations of supplier tenders, whereby the projects are located in European Vodafone national companies.
  • Participate in the choice and control of suppliers and take over the technical contract conditions.
  • Creation of planning, implementation, and installation specifications as well as the product-related configuration for connectivity.
  • Create interference suppression and optimization rules for connectivity and control the system acceptance and introduction and carry them out successfully.
  • Lifecycle management of fixed access xPON/FTTx platforms (OLT, L2 ONT, EMS and SDN).
  • Define the rules for capacity management of fixed access xPON/FTTH platforms to guarantee the best performance to customers.
  • Coordination of implementation for new projects impacted xPON/FTTHx platforms.
  • Implementation of new services for Consumer, Enterprise (i.e. new speeds or fixed services over XGS-PON) and Mobile Backhauling over xPON/FTTx technology.
  • Support testing activities for new SW upgrades, bug fixing, security patches, etc.
  • High- and Low-Level Design (HLD & LLD) for new services and/or platforms.
  • Implementation of security policies defined in Vodafone to hardening all fixed access xPON/FTTx platforms.
  • Automation of network activities in fixed access xPON/FTTx platforms by use of scripting or RPA technics.

What you bring:

  • University degree: Telecommunication degree, with 5+ years of experience.
  • Very good knowledge of fixed access technologies (such as GPON, XGSPON and new PON flavours as well as P2P Ethernet fiber) with special emphasis on SDN (Software Defined Network).
  • Experience in handling with protocols and interfaces, especially southbound interfaces between OSS and SDN-C (e.g. XML, JSON, SOAP, RESTconf, Netconf, YANG, Openflow, Kafka, Corba etc.).
  • Be competent on Standard Web Services commonly used in the OSS /SDN-C environment (Keycloak, Grafana, MariaDB etc.).
  • Communication and security protocols. Switching and Routing protocols (i.e. VLAN, L2/L3 QoS, etc). Validation and authentication protocols: PPP, DHCP, etc.
  • Strong experience working in cross engineering teams. Strong capacity for teamwork.
  • Advanced level of English
