Why this job matters

As Country Lead for Accounting, Reporting and Controlling for Nordics, you will be responsible for:

  • Manages finance and accounting operations and related projects, control systems, policies, and procedures of entities within Nordic countries.
  • Ensures compliance with group and statutory accounting principles, tax submissions, internal/external reporting (IFRS and local statutory accounting principles) and filing requirements. This includes compliance/reporting in accordance with upcoming ESG reporting (CSRD, Taxonomy) requirements.
  • Leads analysis on P&L, Balance Sheet, working capital and Cash Flow performance and drives optimisation initiatives. Ensures P&L and Balance Sheet quality and consistency. Owns Balance Sheet reconciliations.
  • Leads month-end/year-end statutory and management accounting and reporting processes.
  • Responsible for reviewing CIT returns and VAT compliance and leads tax audits (together with regional tax manager and external tax advisors).
  • Provides accounting policy guidance and commercial & financial leadership to the sub-regional Finance Team in GFSS.
  • Leads discussions with business teams, International/ Group Finance and GFSS on commercial, business and accounting topics. Prepares decision papers on key accounting items.
  • Maintains strong and robust internal control frameworks so as to ensure that Nordic countries comply with all relevant statutory, tax, regulatory and corporate governance requirements.
  • Recommends and implements improvements to the work environment and ways of working, fosters collaborative working practices and continuous improvement within the local finance team and the extended team in GFSS.

What I’ll be doing – your accountabilities

  • Analyze Balance Sheet & PL performance and driving optimizations;
  • Balance Sheet review and signoffs;
  • FCM reviewer and sign-off;
  • Regulatory reporting of the BT entities in Nordics;
  • Preparation of annual, consolidated statutory accounts
  • with the support of Senior Finance Manager;
  • Annually reviewing the CIT returns (in liaison with Deloitte and Tax manager);
  • Conduct/coordinate annual tax related sample testing;
  • Maintaining, testing, and updating the Nordic tax control framework;
  • Responsible for operating and signing off on financial controls related to BT Nordics;
  • Coordinating the audits together with GFFS India and liaison with the external auditors KPMG;
  • Regulatory reporting;
  • Main point of contact for Group Finance teams;
  • Liaison with Deloitte/E&Y on all tax related items;
  • Liaison with sales teams and GFSS India on accounting issues;
  • Maintenance of Leases in Lease system (LISA);
  • Fixed asset verification for the Nordic region;
  • Finance related (ad hoc) projects related to BT Nordics;
  • Support Lightspeed Country Management Nordics;
  • Maintaining the new ECO-tax in Sweden: Chem. Taxation;

Skills required for the job

  • Strong accounting skills, both IFRS as well as Local GAAP; Experience in preparing annual accounts for statutory reporting;
  • Degree in Business Administration, specialized in Finance/Accounting, or equivalent;
  • Excellent problem-solving capability;
  • Excellent analytic skills to analyze the Balance Sheet and Profit and Loss and explain variances against prior periods, forecast and budget;
  • Extensive knowledge of MS Office (Excel);
  • Mature, well-organized and an initiative-taker with hands-on mindset;
  • Excellent Communication and Presentational skills required. Key audiences being:

- Sub-Regional Finance Lead/CFO

- Sub-regional and international customer facing units and Service Lines

- International Finance / Group Finance

- Peer group of finance managers in Europe

- Procurement

- GFSS

- External customers, suppliers, auditors, tax advisors, governmental / tax authorities

Experience you would be expected to have

  • Communicates effectively and influences key internal & external stakeholders to support, challenge, influence, and drive opportunities
  • Accounting professional, both local GAAP and IFRS as well as solid experience of VAT, CIT, and payroll taxes
  • Solid experience in preparing statutory financial statements and leading financial audits for entities in Nordic countries using appropriate technologies, practices, and policies
  • Excellent analytic skills to analyze P&L, Balance Sheet and working capital/cash flow
  • Recommends and implements appropriate strategies to ensure adherence to governance structures and application of best practice internal controls
  • Monitors and applies relevant legislation, policies, and procedures
  • A trusted partner leveraging effective controls to safeguard assets of Nordic countries

Key decisions

  • Prepare statutory balance sheets for Nordic Countries for KPMG audits and submit on behalf of BT Finance.
  • Partner with the business to ensure business activities are in line with internal and external policies, regulations and accounting principles
  • Reviews and approves Balance Sheet reconciliations and working capital/cash flow reporting. Leads working capital forecasting for the geo in cooperation with GFSS
  • Accounting judgements are reached taking into consideration BT’s Accounting policy, budget constraints and control framework
  • Proposes / implements improvement plans, e.g. cost or process optimisations
  • Judgements in respect of the successful operation of the control framework are made by reviewing the control activity and compliance evidence
  • Management according to most current MTP for the region
  • External Audit & Statutory and Tax compliance obligations for the legal entity
  • Role holder may hold external signatory / proxy to represent legally represent Nordic countries
