About the role

You will take ownership of the design, development and validation of credit risk scorecards across both acquisition and existing customer portfolios, supporting BT’s transition to more sophisticated, customer‑level risk assessment. This includes setting the strategic direction for associated policy rules, ensuring they work coherently with the models, meet responsible lending standards, and remain aligned with BT’s risk appetite and regulatory obligations.

You will lead the full lifecycle of model delivery, from robust data design and sourcing, including credit reference agency activity, through to technical implementation with BT’s systems teams to ensure accuracy, stability and strong governance. You will also develop automated monitoring and diagnostic tools to track performance, identify emerging risks and enable timely remediation, while acting as a subject matter expert on the safe and effective use of open banking data to enhance modelling capability.

This work sits at the heart of a major strategic priority for BT and requires deep modelling expertise and sustained analytical focus. By owning this agenda, you will help deliver fairer, more consistent credit decisions, reduce operational risk and strengthen the foundations for long‑term growth. The six‑month assignment offers hands‑on involvement in a high‑profile transformation programme, with exposure across multiple functions and regular engagement with senior leaders, making it a strong opportunity for an experienced credit risk modeller seeking visible, meaningful impact.

What you’ll be doing

  • Lead data extracts and retrospectives for scorecard development, liaising with credit reference agencies
  • Design, build and validate acquisition and existing customer credit risk scorecards, with regular updates to senior management
  • Own the development, testing and optimisation of associated credit risk policy rules
  • Manage end‑to‑end scorecard implementation within BT systems, working closely with systems teams
  • Build and automate monitoring packs to assess scorecard stability, accuracy and discriminatory power
  • Act as a credit risk subject matter expert, including advising on open banking developments
  • Produce model and policy documentation in line with FCA requirements for regulated products

Essential Skills / Experience

  • Experience in building and validating credit risk scorecards across both acquisition and existing customer portfolios, alongside the development of associated credit risk policy rules within a credit risk function.
  • Experience owning credit reference agency (CRA) data analytics within large, complex projects
  • Proven experience leading the implementation of credit risk scorecards within decisioning systems

Desirable Skills / Experience

  • Proficient in SAS for model development and management information (MI) automation
  • Strong proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint
  • Experience with Open Banking and PSD2 frameworks
  • Experience leading analytical and project implementation teams
