Job Description

Closing Date: 20/01/2026

Location: London, Manchester, Bristol, Birmingham

Why this job matters

Building on our continued success, we’re looking for an Account Manager to drive revenue growth and unlock new commercial opportunities in the Media Technology and Communications vertical, focussed on driving value for customers which require a higher degree of intimacy with more complex solutions or integrations.

You’ll take full ownership of a portfolio of existing customers, focusing on retention, expansion, and consistently exceeding revenue and growth targets. This is a highly commercial role where you’ll build strong, multi-level relationships, gain a deep understanding of your customers businesses, and influence key decision-makers.

You’ll lead all commercial and contractual discussions, create and deliver winning account plans, and identify and convert upsell and cross-sell opportunities in a competitive market. Working closely with acquisition, business development, and delivery teams, you’ll bring the BT growth story to life and maximise the value of our market-leading network.

As a driven sales professional, you’ll champion cutting-edge technology, deliver outstanding customer experiences, and turn opportunity into measurable results—while staying ahead of industry trends and new propositions.

What you’ll be doing

• Be the superhero of your accounts – build long-term, profitable relationships and swoop in when escalations arise

• Get under the skin of your customers business: understand their goals, dreams, and transformational roadmap

• Craft account plans so sharp they slice through the competition and show exactly why BT rocks

• Use your wizard-level knowledge of BT products and services to deliver complex, commercially savvy solutions – keeping customers happy while looking like a genius

• Make customers love you: boost satisfaction and Net Promoter Scores like a pro

• Own and nurture key relationships – think of yourself as the ultimate connector and strategist rolled into one

• Drive new business like a sales ninja: manage budgets, target wins, and turn opportunities into results with autonomy and flair

•Never stop learning: be fully up to speed on our portfolio so you can pitch value propositions with confidence (and maybe a mic drop)

• Keep your Sales Compass metrics shining bright – because winning is fun, but winning with style is better

The skills you’ll need

• Account Management: Ability to retain, grow, and develop a portfolio of existing customer accounts.

• Revenue Growth: Drive new product revenue and achieve business targets.

• Strategic Planning: Create actionable account and win plans for growth and renewals.

• Customer Relationship Management: Build strong, multi-level relationships and become a trusted advisor.

• Commercial & Contract Management: Lead customer meetings, manage contracts, and handle commercial activity.

• CRM Proficiency: Accurately record and track all sales activity.

• Collaboration: Work effectively with internal teams to deliver products and services.

• Sales & Upselling: Identify opportunities for value-added services and revenue growth.

• Problem-Solving & Escalation: Operate within guidelines and escalate effectively when needed.

Here are some of the great benefits we offer

• 65% on target bonus
• BT Pension scheme, minimum 5% Employee contribution, BT contribution 10%
• From January 2025, equal family leave: receive 18 weeks at full pay, 8 weeks at half pay and 26 weeks at the statutory rate. It’s for all parents, no matter how your family is made up.

• 24/7 private virtual GP appointments for UK colleagues
• 2 weeks carer’s leave

• Option to join BT Shares Saving schemes.

Our working model

About us

BT Group was the world’s first telco and our heritage in the sector is unrivalled. As home to several of the UK’s most recognised and cherished brands – BT, EE, Openreach and Plusnet, we have always played a critical role in creating the future, and we have reached an inflection point in the transformation of our business.

Over the next two years, we will complete the UK’s largest and most successful digital infrastructure project – connecting more than 25 million premises to full fibre broadband. Together with our heavy investment in 5G, we play a central role in revolutionising how people connect with each other.

While we are through the most capital-intensive phase of our fibre investment, meaning we can reward our shareholders for their commitment and patience, we are absolutely focused on how we organise ourselves in the best way to serve our customers in the years to come. This includes radical simplification of systems, structures, and processes on a huge scale. Together with our application of AI and technology, we are on a path to creating the UK’s best telco, reimagining the customer experience and relationship with one of this country’s biggest infrastructure companies.

Change on the scale we will all experience in the coming years is unprecedented. BT Group is committed to being the driving force behind improving connectivity for millions and there has never been a more exciting time to join a company and leadership team with the skills, experience, creativity, and passion to take this company into a new era.

A FEW POINTS TO NOTE:

Although these roles are listed as full-time, if you’re a job share partnership, work reduced hours, or any other way of working flexibly, please still get in touch.

We will also offer reasonable adjustments for the selection process if required, so please do not hesitate to inform us.

DON'T MEET EVERY SINGLE REQUIREMENT?

Studies have shown that women and people who are disabled, LGBTQ+, neurodiverse or from ethnic minority backgrounds are less likely to apply for jobs unless they meet every single qualification and criteria. We're committed to building a diverse, inclusive, and authentic workplace where everyone can be their best, so if you're excited about this role but your past experience doesn't align perfectly with every requirement on the Job Description, please apply anyway - you may just be the right candidate for this or other roles in our wider team.
