Job Title: User Interface (UI) and User Experience (UX) Manager (Edgewing)

Location: Reading area. The role could be contracted to any BAE Systems Air site (preferably Frimley) but on commencement will immediately be assigned to our Edgewing JV in the Reading area. A financial support package may be available to enable this assignment if required, dependent on certain criteria being met. There is a Hybrid Working Policy in place at Edgewing – please speak to your recruiter about the options for this role.

Job Description:

This UI/UX Manager is responsible for designing the user experience (UX) and user interface (UI) of various business processes, IT services, and other digital experiences. You’ll partner closely with business and Digital Information stakeholders to design user and customer experiences that are clear, engaging and accessible. The UI/UX Manager reports to the Experience Senior Manager.

Core duties:

  • Work with customer/user groups and IT Project, Product, and Platform teams to design high-quality user journeys and wireframes that are aligned to overall UI/UX design principles and standards and technology/functional strategies
  • Conduct quantitative and qualitative user research to current user/customer experiences (e.g., surveys, interviews, workshops), defining actionable design improvements that can address identified opportunities and pain points
  • Provide line management and coaching to a small team of UI/UX Designers, reviewing work outputs and identifying areas for improvement
  • Partner with the Experience Senior Manager, Digital Information Portfolio function, and relevant Value Stream leads to allocate UI/UX design resources to IT Projects, Products, and Platforms based on prioritised requirements
  • Manage, mentor and support a small team of UIX/UI Designers as they transition to the Joint Venture
  • Establish the UI/UX design practices within the Joint Venture, including key design principles, standards, and methodologies.

Essential Skills:

  • Demonstrable experience in UI/UX Design within a rapidly evolving customer and user landscape, / Large Complex organisation
  • Line management experience (e.g., resource capacity management) with a proven ability to nurture and develop IT talent
  • Considerable experience in UI/UX tools such as Sketch, Figma, and Adobe XD, with the ability to design clear, accessible, and engaging wireframes and prototypes (both low- and high-fidelity), underpinned by expertise in key UX techniques including user personas and customer journey mapping
