Role Description:

We have an exciting opportunity for a Safety Production Support Officer to join our JORN line of business on a Fly-In-Fly-Out (FIFO) roster, based at our remote site in Laverton, WA.

In this key role, you will support the implementation, monitoring and continuous improvement of workplace health and safety initiatives, helping to create and maintain a safe and compliant working environment. By supporting compliance with WHS legislation and BAE Systems safety processes and ensuring safety procedures are consistently applied across all activities, you will play a pivotal role in keeping our site and our people safe from harm.

Working closely with site teams, you will contribute to the identification and assessment of safety risks, assist with incident reporting and investigations, and support the implementation of corrective actions. You will also provide practical guidance and advice to employees and leaders to ensure safety processes and procedures are understood, embedded and effectively followed.

As a champion of safety, you will help foster a positive safety culture aligned with BAE Systems’ Life Saving Rules, values and behaviours, promoting a proactive approach to risk management and continuous improvement across the site.

In addition to providing day-to-day safety support at Laverton, this role may involve occasional travel for short-term assignments to other manned sites, or to support upgrade and maintenance activities at remote Sounder & Transponder (S&T) sites across Australia. This offers a unique opportunity to work across a diverse range of operational environments while contributing to a critical national capability.

Core Duties:

  • Provide guidance, coordination, and oversight of personnel and contractors for high-risk or critical production activities, including the review of SWMS, JHA/JSEA, and safety documentation.
  • Deliver and manage site inductions for employees, contractors, and visitors, maintaining accurate induction records and approvals.
  • Support the Technical Services function, including training delivery (first aid, driver, safety), equipment compliance, and statutory register management.
  • Coordinate pre-work checks, site chemical requirements, PPE, and contractor qualifications to ensure compliance with safety and regulatory standards.
  • Conduct and support workplace safety activities, including safety audits, hazard identification, incident reporting, Bowtie health checks, and safety walk-arounds.
  • Assist in emergency preparedness planning, safety drills, and SHE incident/hazard investigations, supporting corrective actions and continuous improvement.
  • Maintain and update site safety documentation, risk assessments, hazard registers, and maintenance records within the BAE MMS.
  • Represent the safety function at meetings, support visible safety leadership activities, and promote a culture of safety aligned with BAE Life Saving Rules and organisational values.

Essential Skills & Certifications:

  • Experience supporting workplace health, safety, and environmental (SHE) activities, ideally in remote operations.
  • Certificate IV in Work, Health and Safety highly regarded.
  • Senior First Aid which attracts an Allowance
