Role Description:

We have an exciting opportunity for a Cost Analyst/Modeller – Asset Management to partner with and make a valuable contribution to the Jindalee Operational Radar Network (JORN) program. This rewarding position will report to the Asset Manager and will be offered on a permanent and full time basis.

Core Duties:

  • Develop, maintain and continuously improve lifecycle cost models to support asset sustainment, planning and contractual obligations
  • Capture, validate and integrate engineering, maintenance, logistics, operational and financial data into lifecycle cost models
  • Maintain the Lifecycle Cost Model (LCCM) and associated Master Data and Assumptions List (MDAL), ensuring lifecycle cost data, assumptions and modelling outputs remain accurate, traceable and auditable
  • Deliver accurate and defensible lifecycle cost analysis, forecasts and reporting to stakeholders and customers, supporting their decision making
  • Identify cost drivers, risks and opportunities to support informed decision making
  • Meet contractual cost modelling, reporting and stakeholder engagement requirements
  • Assess the cost impacts of engineering changes, reliability, maintainability, supportability and obsolescence considerations

Essential Skills:

  • Cost Analyst/Modelling experience – Candidates with an engineering, asset management or finance background, will also be considered
  • The ability to interpret information, identify trends, produce reports and support decision-making
  • Good communication and stakeholder management skills, the ability to effectively convey information to stakeholders and customers
  • A passion and interest in cost modelling, working with numbers and spreadsheets – there is the ability to provide further training to enhance competency in this area
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, attention to detail and a commitment to data quality

The Jindalee Operational Radar Network (JORN) and Arctic Over The Horizon Radar Team

The Jindalee Operational Radar Network (JORN) is a connected series of three remote over-the-horizon radars (OTHR) located in Queensland, the Northern Territory and Western Australia. The state-of-the-art defence radar system provides wide-area surveillance at ranges of 1,000 to 3,000 kilometres and plays a vital role in supporting the Australian Defence Force’s (ADF) air and maritime operations, border protection, disaster relief, and rescue operations.

As the Australian Government’s Over The Horizon Radar (OTHR) industry partner for JORN, BAE Systems is looking to mobilise an exceptional team to support a ground-breaking Defence export opportunity for the nation.
