Senior Capital and Impairment Manager
Job Description
About Us
Admiral Money is an exciting and growing division within Admiral Group. We combine the pace and ambition of a growing lender with the backing and stability of a FTSE-listed business. Since launching unsecured personal loans in 2017, we have continued to grow and diversify, with Motor Finance and Mortgages added more recently.
We are looking for people who are keen to learn, excited to get stuck in and ready to help us build something special for our customers.
About the Role
We are looking for a Senior Capital & Impairment Manager to join our Financial Risk team.
This is a senior leadership role with accountability for the development and oversight of Admiral Money's impairment, forecasting, stress testing and capital analytics capabilities across unsecured personal loans, motor finance and mortgages. The role combines deep technical expertise with leadership, strategic influence and governance responsibilities.
You will lead a team responsible for model development, forecasting, reporting and insight generation, ensuring outputs are robust, well-governed and support effective business decision-making. Acting as a senior subject matter expert and trusted adviser, you will work closely with senior stakeholders across Finance, Treasury, Credit Risk and the wider business to provide insight into financial risk exposures and emerging trends.
The role also plays a key part in supporting the firm's broader prudential risk management framework, including funding and liquidity risk oversight, warehouse structures, covenant monitoring and capital resilience assessments.
This is a hybrid role with the expectation to be in our Cardiff Office 2 days a week minimum.
What You Will Be Doing
- Lead the strategic direction and ongoing enhancement of Admiral Money's IFRS 9 impairment framework, including model development, oversight, governance and performance monitoring.
- Own impairment forecasting and insight generation, ensuring senior stakeholders have a clear understanding of emerging risks, portfolio performance and forecast impacts.
- Lead stress testing and scenario analysis activities, supporting business planning, risk appetite assessment, capital management and regulatory readiness.
- Provide expert analysis and interpretation of the relationship between portfolio performance, expected credit losses, capital requirements and financial resilience.
- Deliver oversight and challenge across funding and liquidity risk exposures, including warehouse structures, utilisation, covenant compliance and associated risks.
- Act as a senior adviser to governance forums and executive stakeholders, translating complex analytical outputs into clear recommendations and business actions.
- Lead, coach and develop a team of analysts and modelling specialists, setting high standards for analytical quality, governance and stakeholder engagement.
- Drive continuous improvement across modelling, forecasting, reporting and automation capabilities to enhance efficiency, scalability and insight generation.
Skills & Experience

- Significant experience leading impairment, forecasting, stress testing or capital analytics activities within a regulated lending environment.
- Deep technical expertise in IFRS 9 impairment modelling and expected credit loss (ECL) methodologies.
- Strong understanding of stress testing, scenario analysis and the interaction between credit losses, capital outcomes and financial resilience.
- Experience providing oversight, challenge and thought leadership to senior stakeholders and governance forums.
- Proven track record of leading and developing high-performing analytical or modelling teams.
- Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills, with the ability to communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Advanced analytical capability with strong experience using Python, SQL and Excel.
Desirable
- Experience across multiple lending products such as unsecured personal loans, motor finance and/or mortgages. (Implied by the scope of the role.)
- Experience using modern reporting and visualisation tools.
- Experience with funding and liquidity risk management.
