The Senior Security Engineer processes the requests assigned to him/her and completes the specific activities of the Prevention and Defense area in the field of Cyber Security, following local and global procedures, with the aim of protecting customer and employee data and maintaining the integrity of the company's IT infrastructure. Creates and keeps updated the necessary procedures for solving specific team activities, provides support and guidance to team colleagues and maintains good collaboration with all departments within the company, both local and global.
What you’ll do
• Responsible for managing and responding to cybersecurity incidents:
- Ensures that all cybersecurity incidents are investigated in a timely manner, according to policies and procedures;
- Facilitates the incident investigation process by creating a communication channel between local operational teams and global teams involved in this process;
- Contributes technical expertise to the incident investigation process;
- Recommends rules to CSOC to reduce recurring tickets;
- Follows the entire investigation process and ensures that all actions required as a result of an incident are properly carried out;
- Creates and maintains updated procedures and instructions for incident management, used within the team;
• Is involved in the development and implementation of the information and systems security strategy:
- Ensures that the information security strategy and the projects defined for its implementation are consistent with the global strategy;
- Analyzes the technologies specific to the communications industry, global trends and methodologies for the development of information security solutions, market requirements, as well as its development trends, to determine their impact on the architecture of existing technical solutions;
- Tests the Security systems implemented as part of the security strategy from a functional perspective (e.g. log reception, alert detective, etc.)
• Ensures the implementation of information security procedures and policies:
- Proposes corrective actions as a result of security incidents and vulnerabilities detected on information systems
- Processes the tickets to which he is assigned following the applicable procedures
- Provides technical support to the global investigation team in investigating security incidents;
- Recommends measures to be implemented by operational departments;
- Ensures that global and local security standards and rules are implemented and followed correctly;
• Increasing the organizational culture in the field of information security:
- Promotes good information security practices through company-wide communication programs;
- Contributes with recommendations to the cyber threat awareness program carried out internally within the company;
- Contributes to educating users about cyber threats, providing them with recommendations to avoid violating the information security policy/in order to avoid infection;
• Cooperating with other departments in order to remedy vulnerabilities in information systems, using specific procedures:
- Performs scheduled or on-demand vulnerability scans, using specialized applications;
- Assists operational teams with additional information about detected vulnerabilities and how they affect information systems;
- Provides support and guidance to operational teams to mitigate or resolve vulnerabilities;
- Actively participates in scheduled meetings for urgent vulnerabilities that need increased attention and provides the necessary information to resolve them in a timely manner;
• Responsible for:
- Ensures that all procedures and instructions necessary for carrying out daily activities are relevant and constantly updated;
- Provides support and guidance in daily activities to team colleagues;
- Aims to constantly improve and simplify the team's way of working;
- Ensures the exchange of experience within the team to which he/she belongs
- Monitors and maintains the security systems used by the team to which he/she belongs in compliance with the objectives
Who you are
Skills, knowledge and experience:
• Cyber incident coordination
• Information systems vulnerability management
• Information security
Note: Experience takes precedence over studies and other training courses.
• Strategy: ability to plan long-term objectives, strategic thinking
• Team: teamwork skills, timely and concise information
• Personal profile: able to set priorities, problem-solving orientation, follow and respect deadlines, respect rules and procedures.
• Others: Word processing, spreadsheets, graphics, programming, English, written communication.
Required technical/professional certifications:
University degree
Minimum 5 years of experience in IT/telecom/IT security fields
Experience in vulnerability management of cybersecurity incidents
Experience in security event and information management
Good knowledge and understanding of networking protocols
Experience in using Windows/Linux operating systems
Ability to analyze, interpret and correlate logs generated by various IT systems.
Ability to understand security incidents
Other training courses and certifications (special knowledge required for this position): knowledge of the Cyber Incident Response process (e.g. NIST IR life cycle); knowledge of IT system vulnerability management;
Preferred certifications: Comptia CySa+, CCNA CyberOps, CISSP, CISM etc.
Experience in using vulnerability scanning systems, hardening, log management
