Role Purpose/Business Unit:

  • The primary focus is on promoting Vodacom as more than just a telecommunications company. A key acceleration unit is Vodacom Financial Digital Services, encompassing a range of products under Vodacom Financial and Digital Services such as the VodaPay App, Lending products, Payment Solutions and insurance solutions. The goal is to provide the best segmented propositions and customer experience within our digital ecosystem.

  • The role is responsible for growing and driving online revenue, sales and marketing-related KPIs for the VFS business portfolio, including payment, lending, and insurance solutions. It will provide clear direction for campaign planning related to the overall Marketing strategy, BAU and go-to-market activities, including Campaign planning and execution, marketing budget management, and retrospective media and creative performance campaign analysis. This role will work closely with the Snr Marketing Manager, Product, Analytics, Brand, Social Media, UX, Operations, and Finance teams within Vodacom Financial Services teams. Outputs include driving campaign strategies and plans to deliver on overall marketing, brand and commercial goals within the various business units. The function plays a primary role in driving the optimization of the overall behavioural measurement score (BMS) for brand consideration and digital channel experience (TNPS), as well as revenue generated through digital and physical channels and associated cost savings.
  • The role will be transformational and lead the acceleration required for the product marketing portfolio to become a leading competence within Vodacom Financial Services.

Your responsibilities will include:

1. Identification of Key Target Audiences:

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive marketing strategy tailored to the financial and digital portfolios.
  • Focus on achieving online sales and supporting the sales and distribution team to meet overall business KPIs.


2. Media Planning and Implementation:

  • Plan, implement, and manage performance across all media types including TV, OOH, Radio, premium display, mobile display, programmatic advertising networks, paid search, and paid social.
  • Ensure optimal allocation of the marketing budget across various channels to maximize ROI and achieve marketing objectives.


3. Overseeing Marketing Activities:

  • Manage and coordinate all marketing activities related to the VFS portfolio.
  • Collaborate with internal teams (Product, Analytics, Brand, Social Media, UX, Operations, and Finance) to ensure cohesive and effective marketing campaigns.
  • Monitor and analyze campaign performance, providing insights and recommendations for continuous improvement.
  • Ensure compliance with brand guidelines and consistency in messaging across all marketing channels.


4. Drive Breakthrough Marketing Innovation:

  • Identify and implement innovative marketing strategies and tactics to differentiate Vodacom's Fintech products and services in the market.
  • Stay abreast of the latest marketing trends, technologies, and best practices to drive continuous improvement and innovation.
  • Foster a culture of creativity and experimentation within the marketing team.


5. Provide Inspirational Leadership and Coaching:

  • Lead and inspire the Vodacom Financial Services organization, as well as external partners, to deliver all media, brand, and commercial outcomes.
  • Mentor and develop team members, promoting a high-performance culture and ensuring the team has the skills and resources needed to succeed.
  • Facilitate collaboration and communication across different departments to achieve common goals and drive business growth.

The ideal candidate for this role will have:

  • 3 year Business/Marketing related Degree essential
  • Digital Marketing certifications


Minimum of 6 to 8 years of relevant experience essential in:

1. Digital and ATL Media and Channels:

  • Proficient in managing both digital and above-the-line (ATL) media and channels, ensuring cohesive and integrated marketing campaigns.
  • Proficient in managing social media channels and influencer marketing campaigns
  • Proficient in managing paid search, social & display/programmatic campaigns,


2. Driving Commercial & Operational Targets:

  • Proven track record in achieving commercial and operational targets for the portfolio domain, including sales, revenue, profitability, and product/service adoption.


3. Campaign Strategic Planning and Competitive Market Positioning:

  • Expertise in creating and executing strategic plans aimed at gaining market share from competitors, with a focus on innovative and effective market positioning.


4. Agency and Media Management:

  • Extensive experience in managing creative agencies and media for large consumer-facing brands, ensuring high-quality and impactful marketing outputs.


5. Organizational Navigation and Relationship Building:

  • Skilled in working within complex organizations, capable of building strong relationships and credibility at multiple levels both internally and externally.
