Role Purpose

The Commercial Solicitor will be a key member of the Legal team, providing commercially focused legal advice and support across Vodafone Ireland.

The role will support a broad range of business activities, including strategic customer, supplier and partner relationships, new product development, commercial initiatives and business transformation projects. While the role is expected to have a focus on supporting Vodafone Business activities, the successful candidate will provide legal support across Vodafone Ireland's operations as business needs require.

The Commercial Solicitor will work closely with stakeholders throughout the organisation to support revenue growth, innovation and strategic objectives, whilst ensuring legal and regulatory risks are appropriately managed. The successful candidate will operate as a trusted advisor, providing practical, solution-oriented advice across a broad range of commercial, technology, procurement, privacy and regulatory matters.

The role requires a proactive and commercially minded solicitor who can work independently, build strong stakeholder relationships and contribute to Vodafone's strategic goals through innovative and pragmatic legal support.

What you’ll do

Essence of Role – Key Accountabilities:

As part of the role, you will have the opportunity to make a significant impact across Vodafone Ireland by:

Commercial & Strategic Projects

  • Providing legal support for strategic commercial initiatives, customer engagements and business transformation projects across Vodafone Ireland.
  • Advising on the provision of Vodafone's products and services, including mobile, fixed, cloud, connectivity, IoT, managed services, SaaS and emerging digital solutions.
  • Supporting major customer, supplier and partner opportunities from inception through to contract execution and implementation.
  • Supporting key business units across Vodafone Ireland, including Vodafone Business, Consumer, Technology, External Affairs and Corporate Functions as required.

Commercial Contracts

  • Negotiating, drafting and advising on a broad range of commercial agreements, including:
    • Enterprise customer contracts
    • Framework agreements
    • Master Services Agreements
    • Managed services agreements
    • Software and technology licences
    • Procurement agreements
    • Partnership and collaboration agreements
    • Non-disclosure agreements and heads of terms

Strategic Customer & Partner Engagements

  • Acting as legal advisor on strategic customer, supplier and partner relationships.
  • Supporting commercial teams in achieving business objectives whilst appropriately managing legal and regulatory risk.
  • Advising on contractual disputes and escalation matters involving customers, suppliers and business partners.

Technology, IP & Innovation

  • Advising on intellectual property, software, cloud, technology and IT-related legal issues.
  • Supporting the development and launch of new products and services.
  • Assisting product owners in the development of customer-facing terms and conditions.

Procurement & Public Sector

  • Advising on procurement law and practice, particularly in relation to public procurement and public sector tender opportunities.
  • Supporting the business in responding to RFPs, framework competitions and public sector contracts.

Corporate Governance & Compliance

  • Ensuring appropriate governance processes are followed for contractual commitments.
  • Supporting compliance with Vodafone Group policies and governance requirements.
  • Acting as a trusted legal advisor on risk management and ethical business practices.

Stakeholder Management

  • Building strong relationships with senior stakeholders across Vodafone Ireland, including:
    • Vodafone Business
    • Consumer
    • Product & Technology
    • Finance
    • Procurement
    • Regulatory
    • Customer Operations
    • Risk & Compliance
    • External Affairs
    • Human Resources
  • Working collaboratively with colleagues across Vodafone Group to leverage best practices and support cross-market initiatives.

External Counsel Management

  • Managing external legal advisers where specialist advice is required.
  • Ensuring effective budget management and value from external legal spend.

Training & Knowledge Sharing

  • Delivering legal and compliance training to business stakeholders.
  • Promoting legal awareness and commercial contracting best practices across Vodafone Ireland.
