Role Purpose/Business Unit:

To ensure that key business objectives, effective decision-making and operational financial planning & insights is met through end-to-end business partnering for the respective Line of Business (“LoB”) on all commercial initiatives impacting Contribution Margin and EBITDA. Business Partners include Commercial LoB JDTs, S&D, Marketing, Terminals, FINOPs and VSA FP&A.

Other prepaid includes the following:

  • Terminals, ARC:
    • FBP to terminals and ARC
    • Inventory, creditors working capital management
    • Decision support
  • Pepaid handset financing:
    • E2O reporting
    • PHF strategy support
    • Decision support
  • ROPS:
    • Capex and opex
    • Decision support
    • Turnover declarations,
    • Lease compliance,
    • Footprint decision support
    • Customer and store lifecycle management
    • VW events reporting, PnL
    • VW shop reporting, Pnl
  • Other:
    • Pnl reporting of all other items, incl
    • BBBEE penalties,
    • Facilities,
    • Sale of book,
    • HSF etc.

Your responsibilities will include:

1. Business Partnering:
Provide strategic leadership for end-to-end business partnering across the Line of Business, ensuring commercial initiatives and capital investments deliver sustainable value and align with enterprise objectives. Govern the development and evaluation of business cases and Post Implementation Reviews (PIRs) for initiatives impacting Contribution Margin and EBITDA, driving informed decision-making and long-term profitability


2. MEC & RF process:
Provide strategic oversight and governance of the Month-End Close, Early View, and Rolling Forecast processes (IBRO through P&L EBITDA) for the Line of Business. Drive enterprise-level financial insight generation to inform trends and strategic decisions. Lead high-impact reviews with senior business partners, ensuring robust validation, alignment, and integration of financial performance into broader organizational objectives


3. Budget & LRP:
Provide strategic governance and leadership of the Budgeting and Long-Range Planning (LRP) processes (IBRO through P&L EBITDA) for the Line of Business. Drive enterprise-level KPI/KFI trend analysis to inform strategic decisions and performance optimization. Lead high-impact reviews with senior business partners, ensuring rigorous validation, alignment, and integration of financial plans into the organization’s long-term objectives


4. Reporting & Insights:
Provide strategic oversight of Line-of-Business reporting across Revenue, Direct Costs, A&R, and Opex to ensure accurate profitability analysis and alignment with enterprise objectives. Drive the development of actionable insights and performance narratives that inform strategic decisions and efficiency targets, enabling sustainable growth and operational excellence


5. Data analytics:
Build models to assist with MEC, RF, Budget, LRP, business cases and PIRs with support from D&A and commercial aimed at simplifying reporting capabilities, data accuracy and automated reports/dashboards. Provide strategic direction for the design and governance of financial and commercial modelling across MEC, Rolling Forecast, Budget, LRP, business cases, and PIRs. Partner with Data & Analytics and Commercial teams to drive automation, data integrity, and advanced reporting capabilities that enable real-time insights and informed executive decision-making.

6. IBRO:
Provide strategic ownership and governance of the Integrated Business Reporting Output (IBRO) at Line-of-Business level, ensuring it is built from critical KPI building blocks that drive contribution margin performance. Influence enterprise decision-making by shaping financial insights and performance drivers that align with organizational objectives and long-term profitability.


7. Decision Support for Retail Stores
Provide strategic decision support and governance for the digital transformation of Vodacom stores, ensuring alignment with enterprise objectives and financial performance targets. Influence investment decisions and operational models by delivering insights that optimize customer experience, efficiency, and profitability across the retail ecosystem


8. Leadership and teamwork
Provide strategic leadership to the FBP team, fostering collaboration and capability development to ensure delivery of business outcomes. Build and maintain strong relationships across Vodacom SA Finance, CBU Finance, and key internal stakeholders—including Commercial LoB JDTs, S&D, Marketing, Terminals, FINOPs, and FP&A—to drive alignment and influence enterprise performance.


9. Communication
Communicate with clarity and impact across multiple channels to influence senior stakeholders and drive alignment. Deliver high-quality written insights and actionable recommendations for executive management. Lead effective engagement in key forums (e.g., Commercial Actions, CBU MPR, WD3/4/5/11) and present performance narratives to commercial, sales, regional, and leadership teams


10. Knowledge and experience
Maintain deep expertise in core mobile products, channel and distribution agreements, and key business drivers to influence strategic decisions and ensure sustainable profitability.


11. Innovation and change
Drive simplification and standardization of financial modelling, reporting, and processes while ensuring business requirements are met. Leverage advanced analytics tools and technologies to deliver actionable insights, and champion innovative approaches that enable continuous improvement and operational excellence

The ideal candidate for this role will have:

• At least 10 years financial management experience with Relevant BSc. or BCom. Mathematics, Commerce, Statistics, Econometrics, or relevant financial degree
• At least 5 years operating at senior management level, preferably in a corporate environment managing teams of 5 or more individuals
• Advanced skills in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
• Advanced SQL skills is essential
• Advanced levels of experience in financial and business analysis
• ICT industry experience an advantage
