
Job Description
This is an exciting opportunity to join Virgin Media O2’s General Counsel’s Office as a Legal Counsel specialising in Litigation. Reporting to the Head of Litigation, you’ll play a key role in helping protect and enable the organisation by providing commercially focused, high-quality litigation support and dispute resolution advice across a wide range of matters.
In this role, you’ll manage and support with varied matters at pre-action stage and be involved in active litigation. You will advise on risk, strategy and dispute outcomes across commercial, consumer, regulatory, IP, data protection, competition and construction-related matters. You’ll work closely with internal collaborators and external counsel, will contribute to developing legal know-how and precedents and will be a trusted adviser to mid and senior leaders while operating in a fast-paced, complex, and evolving environment.

The must haves
In order to be considered for this role, you must have the following experience:
- Qualified solicitor or barrister with several years’ experience specialising in commercial litigation, pre-litigation matters and dispute resolution
- Strong knowledge of legal frameworks, dispute processes and court rules and procedure in England & Wales plus familiarity with all stages of the litigation process
- Experience managing commercial disputes, including disputes involving large-scale commercial contracts
- Proven ability to manage disputes autonomously, assess litigation risk and advise on dispute resolution strategies, including settlement and ADR
- Excellent drafting, communication and collaborator management skills, with the confidence to advise mid and senior audiences
The other stuff we are looking for
We'd also love you to bring:
- Experience working with and instructing external counsel in a cost-effective and commercially focused manner
- Exposure to regulatory frameworks and regulators such as Ofcom, or equivalent bodiesplus experience with regulatory disputes
- Experience managing e-disclosure and working with technical or IT teams to preserve and analyse evidence
- A proactive approach, with a passion for learning, continuous improvement and knowledge sharing
- Strong organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise competing demands and adapt to change
