Vattenfall is now looking for a passionate person to take the position of Procurement Manager for Heat and Distribution in the UK. The role sits within the Staff function Procurement and provides support to the Distribution and Heat UK teams.

What you will do

As a Procurement Manager you will become a key member of the Energy (Heat) and Networks (Distribution) Solutions businesses in the UK, as part of the team supporting our journey to become fossil free. As a Procurement Manager you look into doing things in a sustainable way, analyse and check on the right variables and participate in sustainability decisions. You have a substantial role to help and make an impact converting existing old heat networks towards fossil-free. Secondly, we want to reduce up to 30% other overall sustainable goals by 2030, i.e., eliminating suppliers with large CO2 footprint through keen tender or bid assessment based on circularity criteria.

You will be part of the team that will define our supply chain and procurement strategies, setting up processes and workflows aligned with Vattenfall and UK procurement and market dynamics, setting up our supply chain, and leading on procurement exercises, enabling us to deliver projects and reaching agreements with external suppliers.

Responsibilities

  • Purchase services and materials, considering cost-efficiency, timely provision and the required quality.
  • Tendering and negotiation of Business needs in multiple categories (material/services) based on purchase requisitions’ specifications.
  • Manage sourcing activities.
  • Manage internal approvals and governance.
  • Ensure coordination with Project Management/Category Management/Contract Management from the outset.
  • Ensure compliance with internal and external policies, incl. Commercial responsibility for mapping and sourcing strategies per Category. Support project lead engineer or Project Manager in the selection of commercial levers to be implemented.
  • Ensure strategic and consistent approach towards Supply Chain development.
  • Ensure compliance with Category Sourcing Strategy.
  • Drive preparation and approval of tender documentation.
  • Lead communication with tenderers during sourcing phase.
  • Lead internal activities with Finance, Compliance, Risk Management, Social Responsibility, Insurance, Legal and QHSE departments.
  • Manage and maintain supplier documentation.
  • Perform supply market review, support with supplier management .
  • Coordinate supplier selection based on Total Cost of Ownership (TCO).
  • Liaise with requesters to drive spend through preferred suppliers or existing Framework agreements.
  • Ensure competition and safeguard corporate interests, adhering to compliance and corporate guidelines.
  • Contract controlling and clarification of contract and service disruptions.
  • Work closely with Business to choose best options for goods and services while adding value and bringing savings to the company.

  • Maintenance of all essential documentation.
  • Prepare sourcing strategy in compliance with Category Sourcing Strategy.
  • Prepare a sourcing timeline.
  • Manage pre-qualification of suppliers. Draft pre-qualification notification and prepare questionnaires and evaluation criteria in collaboration with Project Manager.
  • Prepare commercial documents for the tender package, and have the documents peer checked/approved, as required by company’s governance.
  • Clarify/evaluate commercial sections of the tender package. Participate in the provision of price forecasts for budget planning.
  • Recommend and agree on negotiation strategy in collaboration with the Project Manager.
  • Lead clarification meetings, commercial negotiations and shortlist/recommend preferred tender/contract award.
  • Prepare internal recommendation of contract award.
  • Update overview of Contracts in Vattenfall’s Contract Management System, including registering savings/cost avoidance, etc.
  • Participate in Procurement process initiatives to improve team productivity, empowerment, and accountability of Supplier Contract adherence, Inventory Management and Customer deliverables.
  • Participates in Tactical Purchasing and Supplier Metrics to ensure execution to Project and Operational requirements.

Qualifications

Qualification / Requirements

Strategic thinker, effective communicator at senior level of the organization with great interpersonal skills, proven commercial mindset and an excellent ability to build networks.

  • Relevant technical or commercial education.
  • Experience with various types of procurement (Capex, Devex, Opex).
  • Experience within procurement and/or contract management preferably in renewables, oil and gas, or similar complex industries.
  • Recommended experience with Category sourcing structure regarding Heat Distribution, construction or similar.
  • Strong analytic skills and profound commercial interest.
  • Performance and results oriented.
  • Lead change management and drive change in an organisation
