Vattenfall has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Project Manager to join our team of OU Projects which is organised under the roof of Business Area Heat (BA Heat), leveraging experience and resources across all our core markets (Sweden, Germany, Netherlands, and the UK).
(OU) Projects is responsible for the development and construction of the heat and power generating assets and the district heating grid within BA Heat. The work in our international team is characterised by diversity, openness, and a high degree of cooperation. In the position of Senior Project Manager you will strengthen our Project Management team which is part of the Project Portfolios within the Operational Unit (OU) Projects. You will be responsible for development and realisation of multi-million investment projects in line with the outlined objectives, business drivers and the Vattenfall project management model and governance. You will be supported by a strong (local) project team and OU Projects competence and resource pools, tools, and systems.
Your tasks and responsibilities will be widespread:
- Reinforcing robust management of health and safety to industry best practice
- Continuous steering, planning, scheduling, managing, executing, and controlling the project with responsibility for budget, deadlines, quality, occupational safety, and risk management, from concept development, construction to the start of commercial operation of a new plant
- Development and controlling/monitoring of contracts with suppliers and service providers
- Coordination and determination of all relevant project results with the decision makers
- Proactive management of the critical path and, execution of subordinate tasks
- Reporting on key Performance Indices
- Leadership of the project multi-disciplinary team
- Resourcing and cost management
- Responsible for keeping the project running according to schedule, within budget with the highest standard of quality and safety with support and input of the team
Your profile:
Being the right candidate, you are characterised as structured and equipped with a sound judgment. You easily connect to people and your advanced communication skills are usable towards senior management as well as on work floor level. You are passionate about being part of the transformation taking place in the shift to a zero-carbon energy sector and are able to keep focus on what is important for Vattenfall. The job requires an orientation on international cooperation with technical, as well as business-oriented experts.
Next to this you are:
- High communication, and influencing skills, proficient at addressing Executive to team audiences.
- Able to take initiative and ownership of responsibilities and drive to completion
- Confident and experienced in masterering critical project content (irrespective of it being technical or commercial) together with a Project Team and a wider team of experts in order to enable and/or maintain project success
- Someone eager to grasp the full picture of the company’s interests, prepare decision making correspondingly, able to manage a team which is paying close attention to details but still manages consideration and connection of details with the overall project picture
- Passionate about setting up something new, building new processes and setting new standards
- A promoter of diversity and inclusion in the workplace.
Qualifications
To be successful, you should further bring:
- Proven multi-year experience in District Heating projects in a technical area (mechanical engineering, electrical engineering/ I&C, process engineering, civil engineering) or in a commercial area, in particular commercial project management and contract management
- Project management qualification (e.g: IPMA certification or similar qualifications)
- Proven experience in leading project teams in the UK market
- Excellent interpersonal skills: you are an inspirational leader, working in teams motivates you, and you are able to build a bridge between the project and all internal and external stakeholders relevant for success
- Negotiating skills, willingness to compromise and persuasiveness
- Good networking within the industry
- High degree of competence with software including: Office 365 suite (Word/ Excel Planner); MS Project
The successful candidate will need to have the right to work in the UK
