About Vable

Vable is a news aggregation and publishing platform that supports international law firms, consultancies and government departments in staying ahead of critical developments.

We help our clients manage information overload by streamlining the way they discover, curate and share vast volumes of professional content. By delivering the right information to the right people at the right time, we enable lawyers and business leaders to stay informed, respond faster, and make confident decisions - all while saving valuable time.

The Opportunity

We're looking for a detail-oriented and curious law graduate to join Vable in a varied role spanning legal operations, contract management, and compliance, with the opportunity to develop financial skills alongside your core legal work.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone early in their career to gain broad business experience while working directly with the CEO. You'll take ownership of contract management, support the InfoSec team with compliance and risk management, and learn financial operations fundamentals including bookkeeping in Xero.

This role is ideal for someone who thrives on variety, has exceptional attention to detail, is numerically confident, and wants to learn and grow into additional responsibilities. You'll be a legal professional who can also handle numbers, not a finance person learning legal work.

What You’ll Be Doing (Day to Day)

Legal & Contract Administration

  • Manage all client and supplier contracts through their lifecycle
  • Review and finalise standard contracts - (NDAs, service agreements, supplier contracts) - you'll spot issues, suggest improvements, and maintain our contract repository
  • Maintain organised contract repository with key dates, obligations, and renewal tracking
  • Coordinate with external legal counsel when needed

Policy & Compliance Management

  • Support Head of InfoSec with information security documentation and compliance
  • Coordinate policy reviews, approvals, and implementation across the organisation
  • Conduct supplier risk assessments and audits for key high-risk suppliers
  • Maintain current copies of supplier certifications, security credentials (2FA, etc.), and DPAs

Operations & Process Improvement

  • Assist with building and maintaining dashboards
  • Manage KPIs on behalf of various departments
  • Support teams with documentation, cost tracking, and budget management
  • Create and maintain process documentation

Financial Operations

  • Manage day-to-day bookkeeping, invoicing, and expense processing in Xero
  • Perform bank reconciliations and maintain accurate financial records
  • Assist in preparation of monthly financial reports and analysis
  • Support budget tracking and financial forecasting
  • Coordinate with external accountants for year-end accounts and tax filings

What you’ll bring

Essential

  • Law degree (LLB, GDL, or equivalent) with strong academic results and proven analytical/quantitative strengths - ideally supported by high grades in Maths, Sciences, Economics, or other rigorous disciplines.
  • Self-taught technical skills such as coding or advanced Excel.
  • Numerically confident and comfortable with spreadsheets
  • Exceptional attention to detail
  • Self-taught technical abilities (coding, advanced Excel, technical certifications) gained through personal initiative.
  • Able to work autonomously and thrive in a remote environment.
  • Strong written communication.
  • Naturally curious and eager to learn.

Highly Desirable

  • Relevant experience in finance, operations, legal, consulting, or related fields (including internships or training contracts)
  • Familiarity with compliance, risk, or information security concepts
  • Experience with Xero or similar cloud accounting software
  • Experience with contract management or legal documentation

Not right for you if…

This role isn't right for you if you:

  • Prefer narrow, specialized work over wearing multiple hats
  • Need detailed instructions and structured processes to do your best work
  • See this as a stepping stone back into traditional legal practice

Why This Role Matters

This isn’t a traditional, single-lane role. You’ll be stepping into a pivotal position that helps free up the CEO and the Head of People & Ops to focus on high-impact work. As you demonstrate capability and curiosity, the role will evolve. If you show strength in financial operations, you'll take on more of that. If you excel at process optimization or compliance, we'll expand those responsibilities. This is a role that grows with your interests and strengths, not one with a fixed job description.

What We Offer

  • Competitive salary
  • Comprehensive training and mentorship across all areas of responsibility
  • Work from home budget and learning budget
  • Private health care following successful probation
  • Broad exposure across finance, operations, and legal functions
  • Opportunity to shape processes and systems
  • Remote-first culture with flexibility
  • Clear path to grow the role based on your strengths

Our Values

💚 The way we work reflects our values daily:

  • We take ownership & deliver - we're accountable and make things happen
  • We’re curious - we ask questions, explore ideas, and keep learning
  • We’re always a team - we succeed together, never alone
  • We’re kind & empathetic - we support each other as people, not just colleagues

We’re excited to meet the next Vabler who will bring this role to life. If you’ve read this and can see yourself in it, we’d love to hear from you. With your permission, we record recruitment calls to ensure fairness, accuracy and collaboration across our fully remote team 🎥

At Vable, we value diversity and inclusion. We welcome applications from all backgrounds and experiences, and hire based on skills, potential, and passion for the role.
