At United Utilities, we're committed to delivering a stronger, greener and healthier North West. As part of our ambitious transformation journey, we're looking for a talented Projects Resource Manager to join our centralised Transformation & Change Team.

This is an exciting opportunity to play a pivotal role in ensuring our transformation programmes have the right people, with the right skills, in the right place at the right time. You'll work at the heart of a diverse portfolio of change initiatives, partnering with project leaders, HR and recruitment teams to support effective workforce and resource planning that enables successful programme delivery.

If you're passionate about resource management, workforce planning or project delivery and enjoy working in a fast-paced, collaborative environment, we'd love to hear from you.

The Role

As a Projects Resource Manager, you'll be responsible for coordinating and managing resource demand across a range of transformation projects. Working closely with project managers, business leaders and key stakeholders, you'll ensure resources are effectively planned, allocated and utilised to support business priorities.

You'll also play an important role in helping the Transformation & Change Team continually improve resource management processes and workforce planning capabilities.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Managing the allocation, tracking and deployment of resources across multiple transformation projects.
  • Supporting resource planning and capacity forecasting to anticipate future demand.
  • Ensuring effective utilisation of skills and talent across the project portfolio.
  • Working with project leaders and HR teams to identify capability gaps and support workforce planning activities.
  • Producing resource reports, dashboards and insights for senior stakeholders.
  • Helping to resolve competing priorities and resource challenges through data-led decision-making.
  • Supporting the ongoing development and improvement of resource management processes and practices.

About You

We're looking for someone who can bring a combination of resource planning expertise, stakeholder management and analytical thinking.

You'll ideally have:

  • Experience in resource management, workforce planning, recruitment, project delivery or a related discipline.
  • An understanding of how effective resource planning contributes to successful project outcomes.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.
  • A collaborative and proactive approach to problem-solving.
  • Strong analytical skills and experience interpreting data to provide meaningful insights.
  • The ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
  • Experience using resource planning or project management tools such as MS Project, Smartsheet, Planview, Clarity PPM or similar platforms would be advantageous.

Why United Utilities?

You'll be joining a business that plays a vital role in the lives of millions of people every day. As part of our Transformation & Change Team, you'll have the opportunity to work on high-profile programmes, collaborate with experienced professionals and make a real impact on the future of our organisation and the communities we serve.

What You'll Get

We believe in rewarding our people and supporting them both professionally and personally. In return, you'll benefit from:

  • Competitive salary
  • Up to 10.5% annual bonus
  • Excellent pension scheme with up to 21% combined contribution
  • Private healthcare
  • Share buy scheme
  • A range of wellbeing benefits and support programmes
  • Access to learning and development opportunities
  • Flexible and hybrid working arrangements where appropriate
