The role

To lead a team to produce high quality data analytics and the enabling data foundations that can be used to drive automated decisioning or provide insight / reports which deliver on performance targets within Water Demand e.g. analytical work that ultimately drives down Per Capita Consumption, Business Use and Customer / Network Leakage.

What You Will Be Doing:

  • Ensure that data available to the team is curated, accurate and understood
  • Ensure that analytical tools and automation ecosystems are fit for purpose
  • Ensure the team are following good practice around data governance and coding such that work can be understood by others both now and in the future such that it can be reviewed and optimised
  • Own the automation of processes / decisions that can create new water saving opportunities or increase the effectiveness / efficiency of current water saving interventions
  • Continual refinement of existing analytics / ways of working to create continuous improvement
  • Set out a roadmap of work to deliver opportunities to reduce water demand and manage a team of technical experts to deliver
  • Report on data insight, progress of work and recommend priorities to aid management decisions
  • Communicate with Senior Management and effectively influence key decision-makers
  • Ensure team workload is optimised to deliver water saving value and manage business stakeholders

What We Are Looking For:

  • Holds a degree or equivalent experience with strong expertise in data analysis and manipulation, using insights to drive business processes and outcomes.
  • Demonstrates continuous curiosity, a commitment to learning and improvement, flexibility in adapting to changing priorities, and accountability through role-modelling positive behaviours.
  • Proficient in SQL, Azure and/or Databricks, with experience presenting insights through Power BI (or similar tools) and managing data pipelines, databases, architecture and governance frameworks.
  • Desirable technical knowledge includes Python, R and statistical modelling, alongside the ability to establish coding and data governance best practices that balance delivery speed with long-term effectiveness.
  • Understands how analytical work contributes to business outcomes, with knowledge of the water sector, including water efficiency and customer-side leakage processes.
  • Strong leadership and stakeholder management skills, able to build effective networks, communicate complex analytics to senior stakeholders in simple terms, lead and motivate technical teams, prioritise workloads, and ensure successful delivery across internal and external partners.
