Job Description

At United Utilities, our fleet is essential to delivering vital services to millions of customers across the North West. As our business continues to grow, we're expanding our Fleet Management team and have an exciting opportunity for a Fleet Administrator to join us.

This is a highly varied role where you'll provide critical administrative support across our fleet of owned, leased, and hired vehicles. Working within a close knit team of Fleet Administrators, a Support Analyst, and reporting to the Fleet Regional Operations Manager, you'll play a key role in keeping our fleet operations running efficiently, safely, and compliantly.

You'll also be part of a wider fleet community of more than 55 colleagues across the North West, giving you access to a wealth of experience, support, and development opportunities. No two days are the same, and you'll enjoy a blend of planned activities alongside reactive priorities, making this an ideal opportunity for someone who thrives in a busy environment and enjoys managing a diverse workload.

We value different perspectives and experiences, so we're keen to hear from candidates from a variety of backgrounds. Whether your strengths lie in administration, finance, scheduling, coordination, or process management, we'll look to build on those skills and help you make the greatest impact within the team.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Processing invoices, raising purchase orders and shopping carts, while supporting reporting and billing activities across the fleet operation.
  • Providing essential administrative support to the wider fleet team, including producing reports, supplying key business information, and supporting operational decision making.
  • Managing the hire and lease arrangements for short term vehicles, ensuring business requirements are met efficiently and cost effectively.
  • Overseeing fuel card administration, licence checks, vehicle taxation, and compliance activities to keep our fleet operating safely, legally, and effectively.
  • Coordinating vehicle maintenance schedules to maximise fleet availability, minimise disruption, and support our internal workshops.
  • Supporting accident management processes and helping coordinate the associated administrative activities.
  • Managing fleet records and databases while supporting the acquisition, tracking, and disposal of vehicles throughout their lifecycle, ensuring accurate operational and compliance information is maintained.

What You'll Bring

  • A valid UK driving licence, as occasional travel to fleet workshops will be required.
  • Experience using Tranman, SAP Core, or similar fleet management and business systems are advantageous but not essential
  • Strong organisational, prioritisation, and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities, work independently, and meet deadlines in a fast paced environment.
  • A proactive and detail focused approach, with the confidence to take ownership of your workload, respond to changing priorities, and remain calm under pressure.

Why This Role

This is a fantastic opportunity to join a growing team and build a career within a critical function of United Utilities. You'll gain exposure to every aspect of fleet administration, from vehicle compliance and maintenance coordination to finance, reporting, and operational support.

With a high level of autonomy, you'll have the freedom to manage your own workload while being supported by an experienced team of fleet professionals. You'll work with a wide range of colleagues across the business, develop valuable operational expertise, and have the opportunity to shape your role around your strengths and interests.

Benefits:

  • 26 days’ annual leave, rising by one day for each completed holiday year (served up to a maximum of 30days) plus 8 bank holidays
  • Competitive pension with up to 14% employer contribution and life cover
  • Up to 7.5% performance‑related bonus and recognition awards
  • Company‑funded healthcare plan
  • Access to Best Doctors, Salary Finance and Wealth at Work
  • EVolve car scheme and ShareBuy scheme
  • Employee Assistance Programme and mental health first aiders
  • MORE Choices flexible benefits
  • Enhanced parental leave

If you're a highly organised administrator who enjoys variety, thrives in a fast moving environment, and takes pride in delivering excellent support, we'd love to hear from you.
