About the Role
As a Decision Support Analyst, you'll support the development, deployment and continuous improvement of United Utilities' investment decision-making capability.
Working closely with the Decision Support Manager and a wide range of stakeholders across the business, you'll help develop analytical tools, reporting and insights that support value-driven investment planning and portfolio optimisation.
You'll play an important role in helping the business evaluate risks, opportunities, costs, and benefits across investment programmes, ensuring strategic decisions are based on robust evidence and analysis.
Your work will contribute to major business planning and regulatory activities, including future Price Review submissions, Water Resources Management Plans (WRMP) and Drainage and Wastewater Management Plans (DWMP).
What You'll Be Doing
- Supporting the development and embedment of United Utilities' qualitative and quantitative investment decision-making capability.
- Developing data-driven insights through analysis and reporting to identify risks, opportunities, and investment priorities.
- Supporting value-based decision-making by helping to evaluate investment options across capital programmes.
- Contributing to the development and application of investment portfolio optimisation approaches and decision support tools.
- Engaging with strategic and operational stakeholders to understand business requirements and promote the effective use of decision support tools and methodologies.
- Providing analytical support for key business planning and regulatory submissions.
- Producing clear reports, visualisations, and recommendations to support investment decisions.
- Assuring the quality, consistency, and accuracy of analysis and outputs produced across the team.
- Collaborating with colleagues across the organisation to support a high-performing, customer-focused culture.
- Acting as an approachable and trusted point of contact for stakeholders seeking decision support and analytical insight.

About You
You'll be a curious and analytical individual who enjoys solving problems, working with complex data and helping others make better decisions.
We're Looking for Someone With:
- A degree or postgraduate qualification in a science, engineering, mathematics, or related discipline, or relevant experience in investment planning, mathematical optimisation, decision support, or value framework development.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to translate data into actionable business insights.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to influence and build relationships across different levels of the organisation.
- Strong planning and organisational skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and deliver high-quality outputs to agreed deadlines.
- Knowledge of cost-benefit analysis principles and techniques.
- A collaborative approach and a desire to support continuous improvement and innovation.
It Would Be Great If You Also Have:
- Knowledge of decision support tools, optimisation techniques, and analytical methodologies.
- Experience using reporting and visualisation tools such as Power BI or Tableau.
- Knowledge of databases and experience using SQL for data analysis.
- Experience of coding in C# or similar programming languages.
- Experience working within utilities, engineering, infrastructure, or other asset-intensive industries.
A full UK driving licence is required for the role
