Compliance Investigations Manager

Location: Lingley Mere, Warrington (Hybrid, 3 days per week onsite)

Help shape compliance, transparency and trust in one of the UK's largest water companies

What you'll be doing

As Compliance Investigations Manager, you'll lead and deliver a programme of second line assurance activities, undertaking planned and reactive compliance deep dives across our Water and Wastewater business.

You'll conduct investigations into compliance issues, providing clear, robust findings and actionable recommendations that help improve our control environment and reinforce our commitment to doing the right thing.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading compliance investigations and assurance deep dives across the business
  • Identifying areas of regulatory risk and opportunity in partnership with operational teams
  • Producing high-quality reports, findings and recommendations for senior stakeholders
  • Working closely with colleagues across Water, Wastewater, Regulation and Compliance functions to share lessons learned and promote best practice
  • Supporting compliance assurance processes, audits and certification requirements
  • Providing technical compliance expertise to support the development of new processes and controls
  • Supporting engagement with external regulatory bodies, including the Environment Agency and Ofwat
  • Contributing to Board Compliance Committee papers and helping shape compliance improvement initiatives

What we're looking for

This role requires a credible and experienced compliance professional with a strong understanding of the UK water industry regulatory landscape.

You'll bring:

  • Significant experience within the water sector
  • Strong knowledge of regulatory compliance, assurance, investigations or audit activities
  • Experience working with and engaging regulatory bodies such as Ofwat and/or the Environment Agency
  • Understanding of clean water and wastewater regulatory requirements
  • Experience handling complex legal, technical or regulatory matters
  • Excellent stakeholder management and influencing skills
  • The ability to analyse complex information and communicate findings clearly and confidently
  • Exceptional report-writing skills, producing concise, actionable reports for both technical and non-technical audiences
  • A relevant degree and/or professional qualification
