MI5 keeps the country safe from serious threats like terrorism and attempts by states to harm the UK, its people and way of life. We carry out investigations by obtaining, analysing and assessing intelligence, and then work with a range of partners including MI6 and GCHQ, to disrupt these threats. The role
As a Facilities Officer, you’ll play an important role in keeping a busy and secure site running smoothly. Working as part of a supportive team, the role involves delivering a wide range of logistical and facilities support services, helping colleagues, visitors and contractors work safely and effectively.

Responsibilities include managing Goods-In activities and deliveries, setting up conference spaces, distributing stationery and supplies, supporting site moves and carrying out general porterage and facilities duties. Working with colleagues across the organisation, you’ll help maintain a safe, organised and efficient environment while ensuring the day-to-day needs of the site are met.

This is a practical role that combines customer service, problem-solving and operational support. Daily activities involve using a range of equipment and vehicles, including utility vehicles and a forklift truck, following training. You’ll also act as a backup driver for an accessible electric minibus, supporting an initiative designed to improve connectivity across the wider intelligence community.

Working in a highly secure environment, you’ll champion safe working practices, challenge unsafe behaviour where necessary, and help resolve issues as they arise. About you
We’re looking for someone who holds a full UK driving licence and is willing to undertake the training required to operate a range of vehicles and equipment, including utility vehicles, a forklift truck, an accessible electric minibus and other specialist equipment.

Safety-conscious and reliable, you’ll take pride in delivering a high-quality service. With responsibility for handling deliveries, operating equipment and supporting site activities, you'll be comfortable following procedures, identifying potential risks and speaking up when something doesn’t look right.

Confident building positive relationships with a wide range of people, you’ll help colleagues, visitors and contractors get the support they need. Adaptable and comfortable working in a busy workplace where priorities can change quickly, you’ll bring a practical approach to problem-solving and a willingness to work collaboratively to find solutions. No two days are the same, with a mix of manual handling activities and work taking place both indoors and outdoors, making this an ideal role for someone who enjoys a practical and varied working environment.

Training and development
From day one, you’ll receive a full induction and ongoing support from your line manager and colleagues. Training will be provided across all aspects of your work, including driving, utility vehicle operation, security awareness, disability awareness, health and safety, and the use of site equipment. This includes the instruction required to operate vehicles such as a forklift truck and the site's accessible electric minibus.

Working closely with an experienced Facilities Officer, you’ll develop your skills across the full range of Goods-In and facilities operations. Continuous learning and professional development are encouraged, with opportunities to broaden your skills and take on new responsibilities as your experience grows.

What to expect
Our recruitment process is fair, transparent, and based on merit. Here is a brief overview of each stage, in order:

1. An initial online application form including pre-screening questions to ensure you meet our eligibility criteria.
2. Online Situational Judgement Test (SJT), in which you rate the appropriateness of responses to a series of short scenarios.
3. Full online application form.
4. An application sift that assesses your motivation for the role and relevant experience.
5. A virtual interview.
6. If successful, you will receive a conditional offer of employment.

Please note, you must successfully pass each stage of the process to progress to the next. Your application may take around 6 to 9 months to process, including vetting, so we advise that you continue any current employment until you have received your final job offer.
