TUI is driving a significant expansion in our multi-award winning mobile app to transform over 20 million customers’ experience when booking and managing their holidays.

TUI already offers an industry leading companion app experience for holiday management and support, we are looking to double down on this to further innovate with real time journey support, location based contextual interactions and engaging merchandising. In addition, we are currently creating a step change in the core holiday search and book funnel with the goal of creating the most engaging booking experience in the travel app ecosystem. The App design team are at the forefront of delivering this change and we are expanding the department to support increasing focus on app as a sales channel.

We are looking for an experienced UX & UI Design Lead to define the future of how customers engage with our app for these core customer journeys, both practically researching and proposing next generation designs, but also leading a high performing design team in order to execute this vision.

ABOUT THE JOB

Design Activity

  • Lead the design of key app features across marketing, search, bookflow, booking management and customer account features within the TUI App
  • Delivering hands-on design for the most complex and challenging design requirements – working at conceptual level to shape customer experiences as well as down into detailed elements. This will typically be on high profile or complex strategic projects.
  • Understand the impact of changes on the overall app customer experience, addressing these challenges and creating compelling proposals that gain stakeholder buy-in.
  • Influence and collaborate directly with App Heads of Product to create a robust, future proof design system that maximised reusability and is up to date with external iOS and Android capabilities.

Design Leadership

  • Provide line management and coaching to 4 UX/UI designers, supervising design activity and providing constructive guidance and feedback.
  • Ensure you direct design team reports have clear skills development pathways, based on their experience and aspirations.
  • Proactively seek out customer pain points in the existing app landscape, or missed opportunities based on competitor and comparator apps, and utilise these to build the design roadmap for your team.

Design Collaboration

  • Identify and address conflicts in the app experience and collaborate effectively across the teams to ensure a connected and consistent experience across users’ journeys
  • Present findings of external analysis to wider Product and Design teams, inviting feedback to validate and optimise your ideas.

ABOUT YOU

  • Pragmatic approach to design in a fast-paced, evolving mobile app environment
  • Ability to handle multiple, varied projects in a fast-paced environment
  • Strategic thinker, able to see ahead for opportunities to positively impact our customers’ experience – while also understanding the detail to resolve problems
  • Significant experience of design leadership, and application of research and design processes to complex problems
  • Highly experienced in communicating high level concepts to senior stakeholders whilst also being able to delve into the detail of complex changes when required. You will have a naturally objective approach to communication.
  • Experience managing, coaching and developing designers with different levels of experience to achieve potential
  • Track record of collaborating with business stakeholders in order to achieve business outcomes and meet customer expectations
  • Very experienced UX/UI Designer with a record of delivering challenging projects to a high standard withing complex environments
  • Deep practical knowledge of agile principles and processes
  • Proficient English Speaker
