Job Description

Join TUI Hotels & Resorts as Director of Engineering who will support the Cluster Director of Engineering in Zanzibar and help to oversee the maintenance, repair, and efficient operation of all hotel facilities, systems, and equipment. This role ensures a safe, comfortable and well-maintained environment for guests and staff while maintaining compliance with safety regulations and brand standards.

This role is located in TUI BLUE Bahari Zanzibar, Tanzania to support our two TUI Hotel properties. Applications will close on or before Monday 4th May.

We are recruiting for candidates with experience working in international high-end leisure hotel brands.

ABOUT THE JOB

  • You will manage daily engineering operations, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical and mechanical systems
  • Ensure preventive maintenance programs are implemented and followed
  • Respond promptly to maintenance requests and emergency repairs
  • Supervise and guide engineering staff, technicians, and contractors
  • Assist in scheduling shifts and assigning tasks
  • Ensure compliance with local safety regulations, fire codes, and environmental standards
  • Conduct routine inspections of facilities and equipment
  • Support procurement of materials, tools, and spare parts
  • Work closely with housekeeping and front office teams

ABOUT YOU

  • Diploma or degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Civil Engineering (or related field)
  • Experience in hotel engineering or facility management
  • Strong knowledge of building systems (HVAC, electrical, plumbing)
  • Leadership and team management skills
  • Good problem-solving and decision-making abilities
  • Communication, organised and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to handle challenging technical situations calmly
