Job Description

At tombola, our People team is committed to creating a positive and supportive experience for every colleague. As an Employee Relations Advisor, you'll play an important role in helping us do just that.

Working as part of our Employee Relations team, you'll provide practical, timely advice and guidance on a wide range of employee relations matters. Partnering closely with People Partners, People Managers, and colleagues across the business, you'll help ensure people processes are fair, consistent, and aligned with employment legislation and company policies.

This is a varied role that combines case management, coaching, policy guidance, and administration. It's ideal for someone who enjoys building trusted relationships, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and is passionate about delivering a great colleague experience.

What you'll do

  • Provide practical, proactive advice and guidance on a wide range of people-related matters.

  • Support and coach People Managers through employee relations cases, ensuring fair, consistent, and compliant outcomes.

  • Manage employee relations cases from start to finish, including preparing and reviewing documentation where required.

  • Act as a first point of contact for general HR queries, including policies, benefits, and holiday-related questions.

  • Work closely with People Partners and the wider People team to deliver a consistent and high-quality people service.

  • Maintain accurate case records and HR systems, ensuring documentation and reporting are completed to a high standard.

  • Analyse employee relations data, identifying trends and sharing insights to support continuous improvement.

  • Keep up to date with changes in UK employment legislation, recommending updates to policies and practices where appropriate.

  • Build effective relationships with external employment law providers and other specialist partners to support case management.

  • Support more complex employee relations activity, including redundancy, TUPE, settlement agreements, and employment tribunal preparation where required.

  • Attend employment tribunals when needed to support the business.

  • Contribute to wider People initiatives and projects that enhance the colleague experience.

Skills & experience

Essential

  • Experience managing a varied employee relations caseload independently.

  • Strong knowledge of UK employment law and employee relations best practice.

  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to build trusted relationships at all levels.

  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

  • Sound understanding of HR policies, processes, and compliance requirements.

  • Solution-focused approach with the confidence to provide practical, balanced advice.

  • Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills.

  • Resilient, adaptable, and comfortable working in an evolving environment.

  • High attention to detail and commitment to maintaining accurate records.
