Ready to help build the mobile experience behind the UK’s biggest bingo site?

At tombola we build everything in-house - our games, our platform and our tech. The Game Studio teams here in Sunderland are the people creating the experiences that thousands of players enjoy every single day.

We are now looking for an App Developer to join the team and help shape the mobile apps that bring those games to life.

This is a great role for someone who enjoys building well-designed features, solving technical challenges and working closely with a team that genuinely cares about the quality of what we release.

This is a hybrid role based at tombola House in Sunderland, where our teams typically spend three days in the office and two days working from home. It gives you the balance of in-person collaboration with the flexibility to work remotely during the week.

What you’ll be getting up to day to day 👀

You will develop mobile app features to support our games, from concept through to release.

A typical week might involve -

• Building new mobile features and functionality used by thousands of players

• Writing clean, well structured code that follows SOLID principles

• Working with design patterns such as MVVM, MVP or MVC

• Creating responsive mobile UI

• Integrating with backend services and handling network requests

• Debugging issues and improving performance and reliability

• Reviewing pull requests and sharing feedback with the team

• Supporting and mentoring more junior developers

• Working closely with QA, designers and other developers to deliver great releases

You will also have the opportunity to contribute ideas and influence how features are built. The team has the freedom to help shape the direction of what we create.

What we are looking for 🧠

We are looking for someone who enjoys solving problems and building well-structured mobile applications.

You will likely have experience with

• Swift programming language

• Object oriented programming and SOLID principles

• REST APIs, web sockets and asynchronous programming

• Source control workflows and branching strategies

• Mobile design patterns such as MVVM, MVP or MVC

• UIKit or SwiftUI frameworks

• Reactive programming such as Combine or RxSwift

• Unit testing and testing principles

• Build tools such as Fastlane or the Xcode build system

• CI CD pipelines and modern development workflows

• Firebase services including Analytics, Remote Config or Crashlytics

You will also have contributed to at least one commercially released mobile app and be comfortable owning features from development through to release.
