Job Description

The Tesco Consumer PR team sits within the wider Tesco Group Communications department. We are responsible for influencing the media, so that they represent Tesco positively and communicate our key messages in the right way and in the right places to ensure this endorsement is compelling for our target audience groups. Our remit covers PR related to Tesco products, quality and value, with a consumer audience, but work closely the wider team who communicate around business priorities, sustainability and health as well as protecting the reputation of the business in the media.

As part of our work, we cover Food, BWS and Home products, we develop PR activations to help elevate the brand and we also oversee PR events.

We are a small but ambitious team who are passionate about PR and we�re looking for someone who shares our ambition to deliver for our customers to join us.

Please note: This is a 12 month Fixed Term Contract.

  • Helping to deliver a multi-layered consumer PR plan aligned to the strategy, product development and seasonal calendar to elevate brand perception and win share of voice in media.
  • Managing consumer PR events and activations to agreed budget and timings, at the same time as continually looking for ways to improve and innovate, offering journalists and customers something different and exciting each time.
  • Writing press material, as well as undertaking relevant approvals.
  • Identifying opportunities to amplify our activity across other channels.
  • Managing internal stakeholders, keeping them engaged and involved in our work as and when necessary, helping to promote awareness of our channel.
  • Setting clear measures and KPIs for activity to make sure we�re constantly improving, and to show the impact and efficiency of our activities.
  • Building a strong relationship with our agency partners � managing the day-to-day relationship with our PR and media monitoring agencies, as well as maintaining regular contact with our other creative agencies, to help create a high-performing, cross-agency team.
  • Staying close to PR leading edge practice and continually looking for compelling and exciting new ways to land Tesco�s messaging.
  • Building and maintaining effective relationships with key journalists and media outlets and ensuring regular programme of journalist engagement.
  • Following our Business Code of Conduct and always acting with integrity and due diligence.
  • Strong understanding of PR and earned media trends, with experience engaging and building relationships with journalists.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including copywriting, with the ability to simplify complex concepts.
  • Highly organised with strong planning skills, including experience delivering projects, events, and tracking results.
  • Collaborative, proactive approach with the ability to work across multiple stakeholders and build strong internal and external networks.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple priorities under pressure.
  • Experience managing agencies, external partners, and budgets.
  • Energetic and enthusiastic with a positive, can-do attitude.
