We help the world run better
At SAP, we keep it simple: you bring your best to us, and we'll bring out the best in you. We're builders touching over 20 industries and 80% of global commerce, and we need your unique talents to help shape what's next. The work is challenging – but it matters. You'll find a place where you can be yourself, prioritize your wellbeing, and truly belong. What's in it for you? Constant learning, skill growth, great benefits, and a team that wants you to grow and succeed.

About SAP Labs Network and SAP Labs Vietnam

SAP Labs Network is the global R&D setup where over 55,000 engineers around the world create, operate and support the most innovative enterprise solutions for SAP’s customers worldwide. SAP Labs Vietnam aims to become one of the key locations within the SAP Labs Network to support the engineering growth for SAP.

What you’ll build

We are seeking a candidate who is motivated by new challenges and is interested in growing from a traditional software compliance analyst role into a technical legal compliance engineer. You will help manage the risks associated with third-party software usage across SAP by combining technical analysis, tooling, and automation.

The role includes executing and interpreting code audits using source code scanning and software composition analysis (SCA) technologies, assessing risk, and communicating findings clearly to engineering teams and senior stakeholders. In addition, you will contribute to the automation and AI-enablement of compliance processes, helping to reduce manual effort and improve scalability.

A genuine interest in software licensing, intellectual property, and modern development practices – including AI-enabled systems – is essential.

Key tasks include:

  • Review and understand SAP’s open source software policies, tooling, and expectations for IP compliance
  • Execute SAP’s technical and legal compliance governance processes across global development teams, protecting SAP from license violations, intellectual property exposure, and related risks
  • Perform code audits using software composition analysis (SCA) tools; assess and document risk levels and discuss results with engineering teams
  • Drive and coordinate remediation activities, aligning with key stakeholders such as Product Owners, Global Legal, and Global Security
  • Contribute to the design, development, and continuous improvement of automated compliance tooling, including systems that leverage AI and large language models (LLMs) to analyze, classify, and contextualize compliance data
  • Participate in the evolution of SAP’s internal frameworks for automated source code scanning and compliance analysis, with opportunities to engage in software development across multiple programming languages (e.g., Java, JavaScript, Python, Ruby, Groovy, PHP, Perl, and others)
  • Support continuous improvement of processes required to scale intellectual property audits across SAP group businesses
  • Lead or contribute to change-management initiatives, including the introduction and rollout of new compliance and auditing tools
  • Collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders across functions, organizations, and regions
  • Strive for operational excellence and continuous process optimization, including documentation and knowledge management

What you bring:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent education
  • 3+ years of experience in software development, quality engineering, security and compliance engineering, or testing using Java, C/C++/C#, or other mainstream programming languages
  • Solid understanding of software development lifecycles, engineering workflows, and development governance
  • Familiarity with open source and commercial software licensing concepts is a strong advantage
  • Proficiency in scripting or automation languages such as Python, Ruby, and/or JavaScript is an asset
  • Experience with modern CI/CD pipelines and development tooling is advantageous
  • Familiarity with modern AI technologies is highly desirable, including:
    • Use of large language models (LLMs) in software tooling or automation
    • Understanding of AI-enabled analysis workflows and decision support
    • Awareness of emerging AI tooling components such as agents, orchestration layers, and model integration services
  • Demonstrated interest in expanding expertise in development governance, legal compliance, and intellectual property management
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with well-developed written and spoken English
  • Ability to analyze complex technical and legal topics and communicate findings clearly
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment as well as independently with minimal supervision
  • Curiosity and willingness to continuously learn in areas spanning software engineering, compliance, and AI-enabled tooling

Where you belong:

As a market leader in enterprise application software, SAP helps organizations of all sizes and industries innovate through simplification. From the back office to the boardroom, warehouse to storefront, on-premise to cloud, and desktop to mobile device, SAP empowers people and organizations to work together more efficiently and use business insights more effectively to stay ahead of the competition.

As a Technical Compliance Analysis Engineer, you will have the opportunity to put your ideas into action with meaningful impact. The Global Technology Legal Compliance (GTLC) team within SAP’s Product Engineering board area is responsible for the governance of third-party intellectual property (IP) used across SAP products. This includes open source software, commercial third-party software, web services, and increasingly, AI-enabled components and services.

We are looking for an exceptional candidate to join our team in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, to help guide and manage the compliant use of third-party software and technologies across SAP’s global engineering organization. This role sits at the intersection of software engineering, compliance, and automation, and is evolving to incorporate AI-driven approaches to compliance analysis and risk management.
